The way I see it is possibly tainted by the versions of Beauty and the Beast I have read. It starts off with them falling in love, but when she says "my heart is occupied, your love for me now has to die" she is referring to the fact that she must leave because her father is in danger (Like I said, influenced by Disney) and her heart tells her she must go to him. Then, she returns ("however cold the wind and rain, I'll be there to ease up your pain"). The reference to "the wolf in me" is saying that part of the beast is still inside him. That's what I reckon anyway.

On the Nightwish website, Toumas specifically states that he loved the movie Beauty and the Beast but HATED the way they made the prince at the end (I agree). I think he left the Beast as a beast in the song for this reason. I LOVE the line, "Forever shall the wolf..." like love is great, but not really in the beast's nature - maybe the chase is more interesting. I think that is kinda in revenge for her saying she had no room in her heart for him.

Remember, Lost and Damned, the song is refering to the past, so the Beast is being called "a beast" because it's what he was in the past, even if it wasn't what he is now. Almost poking fun (affectionately) at his past nickname.

"But as my heart is occupied Your love to me now has to die Forgive me, I need more than you can offer me" I don't think she's in love with someone else. I could just mean that she has something else she needs to do(like finding her father in the forest), and she can't focus on love right then.

with all do respect guysm i think ur completely of track on this one...im not so good at interpretting songs but here is y i think ur wrong.. The song starts by how belle met beast and how they fell in love and how beast became the prince he once used to be,..tan she says (Belle): "As a world without a glance Of the oceanīs fair expanse Such the world would be If no love did flow in thee But as my heart is occupied Your love to me now has to die Forgive me, I need more than you can offer me" she sez she fell in love with someone else... "My heart is occupied, ur love for me has to die".. i think this makes more sense.. Agree, disagree????
