| it is a very beautiful song, and a very sad one, and i agree that it is about the war between the indians and the white men, and it is unfair, because the indians didnt have weapons or trained men, and white men destroyed their habitat and them, too | |

| This song is absolutely about what god damn Americans did to Indians and how they took Indian people's motherland. | |

| Makes me think of the American westward expansion, mostly how one-sided and ecumenical it was. The Trail of Tears was a famous example of the suffering inflicted on Native Americans...sadly, it is not the only one. The use of Lakotan is haunting...nothing offers more indemnification than the voice of your victim... | |

| Creek Mary's Blood is a book by Dee Brown about Native Americans. I presume that the song refers to this but I'm not sure-I haven't actually read the book. Its a very beautiful song-one of my favourites on that album. | |

| Dragon: Translation for the poem: (as some other lyrics not listed): our souls will join against the wild our home in peace'n war'n death wandering on horizon road... i still dream every night of them wolves, them mustangs, those endless prairies the restless winds over mountaintops the unspoilt frontier of my kith n'kin the hallowed land of the green spirit i still believe in every night in every day i am like the caribou and you like the wolves that make me stronger we never owed you anything our only debt is one life for our mother it was a good day to chant this song for her our spirit was here long before you long before us and long will it be after your pride brings you to your end | |
