Scarily, I can see the necrophiliac thing. However, I always thought it was more he used her and she genuinely loved him. Perhaps he wanted to drive her to suicide, perhaps not: either way, she killed herself because of him. Thus, he had the ultimate control over her, but as he can no longer physically control her, it's a 'draw'. The last part can be seen from both sides: she is telling him that what she is doing is completely for him and that he doesn't need to worry about her because she loves him. Meanwhile he is lying to her, saying that everything is for her while he feels no love for her. The final two lines can be taken both ways depending on the emphasis. "Just give in to it, never think again: I feel for you," comes from her side, telling him to give into what they have because she loves him. "Just give in to it. Never think again I feel for you," comes from his side, telling her to give into death/his manipulation, but that she should never have believed that he loved her. Whichever is true (the necrophiliac version or this) Tuomas is just a little bit disturbed. Still an awesome song, though....

this song is again for a woman's point of view, though we know Tuo wrote it. Yes, she loves him desperately. really badly. He was her first "real", "strong" love. He broke up with her. And she tries to tell him and the world that she doesn't want him any more, that she doesn't need him. But he knows very well that he still has the control over her.

All rfight... Call me crazy (and you probably will), but I have quite a different idea for this song... I thik that yes, she was in love with him, but then he killed her and went all... Necrophiliac. "Barely cold in her grave Barely warm in my bed" "Puppet girl, your strings are mine" "Just give in to it never think again I feel for you" While that last line usually does mean something like 'I feel sorry for you,' I'm thinking that in this case, he actually means 'You don't have to feel anything; I'll do it for you.' I think he's a little nuts (Not Tuomas, just in the song).

she is desperately in love with him, he is her first love, and she feels very strange, a srange happiness, and with his lover all pain will fade, and they will be together forever

Ack this is my one of my favourite Nightwish songs, but i'd never thought of it from Ravenwolf's p.o.v before. It makes so much sense.

Just a side note to the necro thing - don't forget that this song comes after Slaying the Dreamer, which has definite Vamp overtones - listen to it again with that image in mind.

I think it's about two people who can't communicate with each other, like a failing marriage. They both love each other, but think that the spouse hates them. No one is a bad guy, they jsut don't get along very well, and are fighting. 1st - She talks about how much they loved each other, how much she meant to him. 2nd - She conveys what SHE thinks she means to him. "You think i'm cold, an endless nightmare etc" 3rd - "only so many times I can say i long for you" I love you, but it isn't enough for you(from her perspective) 4th - she contemplates suicide, or maybe just leaving him. This may even be symbolic for planning to kill him "I'll feed a snake, drink her venom stay awake" She would be the snake which is symbolic of her growing dark conscience and plans of murder. The next two lines however, would hint that she is planning to kill herself. 5th - This was the kicker, his perspective is what got me thinking this way. "Barely cold in her grave", she's gone, she doesn't care, he grave isn't uncomfortable, look what i drove her to. "Barely warm in my bed" He is sad without her, he doesn't have the warmth he used to have. "settling for a draw tonight" He just cant' win, he cant' express how he loves her, mainly because she's gone "puppet girl your strings are mine" Look what i made you do" Final - She loves him, adn wants him to be happy. She thinks the only way she can do that is by releasing him of her misery, whether through death or leaving him.
