For this verse, use a Delay and a Chorus pedal to get
the desired effect. And Palm Mute. It's extremely quiet,
and the electronic layer is kind of in the way.

This is probably the closest thing to an Instrumental on the album. Simple lyrics, which are almost unimportant, but just adds a bit of poetry to the song. On the first listen, i was like omg... is the chord ever gonna change?... i knew it had to cuz i saw the promo video... but the anticipation... he obviously knows what he's doing, cuz im sure that was the point. When it finally changed up it was the best relief ever. Amazing song. Very different, and i bet a non nin fan would not udnerstand why it's good. But it is. Also a great way to lead into Right Where it Belongs... which is probably the best song on the album, tied maybe with Every Day is exactly the same, and All the Love in the World

My eyes watered at the pure beauty this song gave off. The gorgeous melody combined with the lyrics of Trent being ready to move on from one stage of his life to another gives a glorious feeling of peace. While Trent realizes he's running out of popularity in today's music scene with the ADD society who can't remember who the hit band was last week, he's ready to move on from all the turmoil in his life. And in creating this music and the music from past albums, he has gained a type of immortality, this being stated in the line "We will never die". Following with the line "beside you in time", he could either be talking to other musical innovators like John Lennon, Frank Sinatra, Elvis, or Kurt Cobain or he could be talking to us; that this immortality is what we all desire and eventually we may get to that point, but first we have to go through this turmoil on our own, feeling every little piece bleed through, before we can achieve this greatness.

I agree with the people who say that this is one of the best/the best songs on with teeth and that a non-NIN fan wouldn't get it. "I am all alone this time around Sometimes on my side I hear a sound Places parallel I know it's you" I think this refers to trent maybe losing someone. And then at certain places he can feel that person's presence?? Great song.

So simple yet somehow only trent makes it seem like a mission impossible to write something like this, the beat of this song is amazing and haunting and of course just of ppl have said this nicely leads into \'right where it belongs\'

This, for me, was maybe the song I identified most with. after having my heart broken this last time. I came to believe that I'd never meet the one person I was meant to share my life with. I would periodically allow myself to feel hope--"little pieces bleeding through", and lose little bits of my sanity and soul every time. I suppose I'd resigned myself to being "all alone this time around". Maybe I need to be alone to learn the lesson I'm here to learn in this life. That being said, I've found a measure of peace. I have simply realized that love(as Hallmark defines it) is completely random, like train wrecks and lotteries-- completely out of our ability to control or influence. Instead of trying to fill the hole in your life, be the one who fills the holes of others, with kindness. It's the only way out.

OK, let me just say this: TO THOSE WHO SAY THIS ENTIRE ALBUM IS A DISAPPOINTMENT, AND ARE SAYING THAT THE LAST TWO SONGS MAKE UP FOR THIS DISAPPOINTMENT... YOU ALL ARE SO FULL OF SHIT. THIS ALBUM DOES NOT HAVE ONE DISAPPOINTMENT ON IT WHATSOEVER. My theory on the whole album being hated is this: Many people bought "With Teeth" and we're probably thinking "oh cool, this is going to be DS times 2". Guess again... it turns out that is was great in its own way... Seriously people, I know Trent had to have spent a lot of time making this album and all I've seen people do is run it into the ground... just fucking pathetic...

Not my favorite on the cd, but like everyone said, it really leads up nicely to Right Where It Belongs(which is in fact my favorite on the cd :P) And yeah, it was awesome live. I saw NIN when they came to Chicago last month. :3
