| Bush is kind of the reason he's been freaking out about the government from what I've taken from his attitude lately...But who knows. I think it is a slap in the face to Bush and Republicans. I think it's an excellent slap in the face. When I heard the first few lines I developed that opinion. He definitley is not just talking about God, although that was the first thing I thought of. It's partially the idiocy over whether we should or should not capitalize the Christian God's name over another, signifying his superiority. But that's really just mainly a mask to slam G.W. heh... Since that's all he stands for. Insane fundamentalists. | |

| What if G stands for something a little more simple like Government? Trent could be writing about George Bush, but don't you think he'd rather keep blaming Government. | |

| Btw song kicks ass, Trent knows Guatemala, lol! and the "turning in my god for this one" I think is actually "trading in my god for this one" and Year Zero will go down for being one of the most creative things in music, ever. | |

| I think the G either stands for government/god The George Bush thing is just bush bashers trying to turn every song into an anti bush, when I'm pretty sure Trent could give enough of a fuck to write an anti-bush song like every one else. Government has always been this way, just with different faces, and this song is basically saying that. | |

| abhpro: Yes it takes place in 2022. But great art imitates real life. George Orwell wrote 1984 in 1948 but was commenting on the political changes of england and Europe post WWII. Terry Giliams Brazil was about the ever growing bureaucracy and overprotective intrusions of governments in the late 1980's Fritz Lang's Metropolis made in the 1920s, which is the story of a large futuristic city in the year 2026, dealt with the issues of the then emerging communism and capitalism. There are many more dsytopian pieces of art that reflect off of current events of the time they were created. So YZ is about a fictional dystopia in 2022, but is based on the political and historical situations of today. | |

| I love the way Trent sings this song. The chorus is amazing. As for the meaning, I'd imagine the speaker is someone in a government position while people are rebelling against the Parepin dosage in the water. I love how Year Zero shows viewpoints from all kinds of people in 2022. | |

| Many people believe that the Capital G stands for God. Well, I happen to be Christian, and I can tell you that the God I worship does not sign his name with a Capital G. IF anything, His name is spelled starting with an "I." I find this song to be quite literal. Interpret the lyrics as-is, and you have a "F-Y" to George W Bush. However, the overall 'setting' of Year Zero is a futuristic dystopia. Trent compares today's political characteristics to one that would cause the downfall of the human civilization. Strangely enough, they are one in the same. (sense my sarcasm?) I believe that Captial G is not totally about George W Bush. It's not. The whole theme of Capital G is an allusion to today's government and political outlook on moral vs monetary issues. The reference to George Bush is merely a catalyst to get your mind on the topic of a structurism that would cause the downfall of humanity. Comparing today's government to one that would cause mass destruction (hmm) using GWB as a symbol is an insult enough as itself. However, I may be wrong. It's up for interpretation, right? Awesome song, nonetheless | |

| Most Christians are taught to distinguish the right "God" with a capital "G" and referring to all other gods, possibly when studying world religions, with a small g "god". The Capital G refers to the figure as the right god. | |

| Isn't the whole album about the situation in 2022? Like The Warning talks about The Presence everyone is seeing in the future. I don't really think this song, or any of the album, is about current situations; maybe about things now that could lead up to what's happening in Year Zero. | |

| First few lines are obviously about politics. I interpret the rest as a character whose government has blasted him with so much propaganda that he no longer cares about the fate of the world around him and just accepts his new 'God', who signs his name with a capital G. | |
