Noori is a Pakistani rock/ pop band. Its members include, Ali Noor (vocal and lead), Ali Hamza (bass), Jaffri (bass), and Gumby (drummer). Noori's music balances traditional Punjabi lyrics with rock music, along with some highly Western numbers. The group released their first album, Suno Ke Main Hun Jawan, in 2003. The album was extremely successful in Pakistan and was on top of the charts for several months. They have also recently released their second album, Peeli Patti Aur Raja Jani Ki Gol Dunya, in September 2005.
As Junoon and some other Pakistani western-style rock bands, Noori has contributed in the emergence of a new genre in South Asian music. Their music sits in contrast with the typical Indian film style music which is slowly losing its appeal with the new generation of Pakistanis. In fact, Noori's influence on traditional music is very visible in the new film music.
