| Black Rock has always been one my favorite OAR songs and i had the chance to see them play in Omaha and it was amazing. I've always thought of Black Rock as a location like most of you do, but before they played this song Marc Roberge (The lead vocalist) said that Black Rock is not only a destination but also a state of mind. Its pure genius and i love this band. | |

| i love this song because i think the idea of going somewhere to relax and unwind is something everyone can relate to...it may not be a black rock for everyone but i know that we all have places we go to be alone and just think about our days... i have to agree with maverickdvo and say that the live version is AMAZING...the extra verse in that version is so powerful and everyone should check it out at some point because its definitely adds something to the song...my favorite part is "this world is runned by love and absolutely nothing more"...soooo true! such an amazing song | |

| great song, especially live, the blood outro is mind boggling, o.a.r. will blow you away live. and to reiterate wat basically everyone has been sayin whoever said this song was about drugs is retarded, if u read or knew anything about the band you would know that its about a place in their home town, sorry if i sound like adick but basically all their music is explained on oarsa.org or in some of their albums awesome band | |

| I really like OAR's music but I'm not too sure about the band's lifestyle. The first time I really listened to the words to this song though I thought it was about heroin. Black rock is a common slang term for heroin. Read through the lyrics again. It really makes sense. Some of my friends have also heard this same thing from different sources. The most convincing line though is: "and when you are scared no more/you reach your hand out and just open the door/and that's just what we're doing tonight." You can obviously interpret this as a concrete statement about reaching out and opening the front door and going outside, but I think its double meaning is reaching out your arm to shoot up. Again, I don't know about their lifestyle and I could be completely wrong, but you have to admit, it makes sense. | |

| this is my favorite OAR song to listen to Marc's improv. There is a reoccuring theme of Old Man Time throughout OAR's music like in songs On Top the Cage, Old Man Time, and of course Black Rock. In most live versions Marc tells of his 'encounter' with Old Man Time. i love the metaphor and i love how he plays it out and the theme of Black Rock in so many different songs. Cuz when i head out route 28 black rock living becomes a state of mind and a state of mind i take wherever i've been, and gone, and back again | |

| OAR is from the town next to mine..Rockville Maryland. Black Rock is a road named after a mill about 5 minutes away from this area. It is a really chill place that is part of a state park. There is a black rock somewhere apparently and you can see it if you watch "the blair witch project" which was filmed there. Me and my buddies go there all the time to chill. The song is awesome. its just about getting away from things and relaxing | |

| enteroneness is right, the Black Rock is a place to go and chill, relax, and unwind. I think that the song also goes deeper than that though, and that a "black rock" is a metaphor for whatever it is that helps you think clearly, get your mind straight and focused whenever somethings troubling you. If you listen to the live cd, there's an extra verse (my favorite lyrics of all time from any song) and it really makes sense. I was going to post it here, but it's really long. I would HIGHLY recommend buying the album Anytime Now, it's a two disc live recording from various shows, and that is where the extra verse appears, and its AMAZING If you ever find yourself upset, troubled, or unclear about something, find your black rock! | |
