| About this songs intro... it uses the same beat as Live Forever but with the speed of Supersonic... for me, when I first heard this song, I instantly thought Live Forever... so to compare Listen Up directly to Supersonic would be partially wrong. Get it straight people!... lol, jk But yeah, this song is an amazing b-side and fun to play, as well. | |

| that's exactly what I was going to write here: the beginning sounds like supersonic. That's weird I thought I was the only one who noticed this and posted it in this site. Plus for the moment, I don't mind being on my own | |

| I once believed that the nexus of the meaning for this song lay in atheism- that the line 'But I don't believe in magic- Life is automatic' referred to the absence of a 'God' or 'Creator'. I'm not so sure now- it's that, but it's more (at least to me). I think it's just painting the frustration of a life as a middle to lower class person- that we work and work and work and can't get ahead. That we can find solace in bottoming out in our quest for our dreams and finally succumb to settling for understanding that the world is unfair, it's harsh and short (Hobbes). I now think that it's more about self-reflection and coming to a realization of how reality is difficult to accept but, in the end, is reality nonetheless. | |

| The intro is not the same as Supersonic's. Listen Up opens with a beat on the ride cymbals while Supersonic opens with the beat on a slightly open hi-hat. This song is about how everything is going wrong in someones life. It's as if he really dislikes someone but can't open up to them because of other situation. "Sailing down a river alone..." Probably explaining how he wants to get away for a while and make some time on his own. | |
