Subject: Tab: Change by Oingo Boingo
Song: Change
Band: Oingo Boingo
Album: Boingo / Farewell Live
Written by: Danny Elfman
Tabbed by: boingo692x@mail.telis.org
This is a chord representation of the song. There are several solos that I
will not be tabbing, it is sixteen minutes long. This should give you the
basic gist of the song. If anyone has the tab for the whole song send it
to Harmony Central and add it to the Oingo Boingo section of tab.
Verse 1
C#4 B3 B3 C#4 F#3
Don't you ever wonder why nothing ever seems to change?
E3 G#3
if it does it's for the worst seems it's just a modern curse
C#4 B3 B3 C#4 F#3
Sometimes when I take a peek outside of my little cage
E3 G#3
everyone looks so asleep, will they die before they wake and
Pre-Chorus
A3 C#4 G#3
hey... don't ya know? we're just products of our time and
A3 C#4 G#3
hey... whaddya say? show me yours i'll show you mine...
Verse 2
C#4 B3 B3 C#4 F#3
Better dumb and happy than smart and without any friends
E3 G#3
better cute and better loud better join up with the crowd
C#4 B3 B3 C#4 F#3
Keep up or be left behind there's a dust storm in my mind
E3 G#3
seems I can't see straight these days doesn't matter anyway and
Pre-Chorus
A3 C#4 G#3
hey... don't you know? we're just products of our time and
A3 C#4 G#3
hey... whaddya say? show me yours I'll show you mine...
A3 F#3
hey... whaddya say? hey... whaddya say?
E3
please don't ever...
Chorus
C#4 B3 B3 C# F4 F4
oh god here's that question now
C#4 B3 B3 C# F4 F4
the one that makes me go insane
C#4 B3 B3 C# F4 F4
I'd gladly tear my heart out
C#4 B3 B3 C# F4 F4
if you would never, never, never, never change...
Just to clarfiy, the octave number given are simply to show relativity. (ie,
between F#3 and F4), as the song is played on the lowest octave on the guitar.
This small riff is used throughout the song and can be used for the slowed
down tempo in the interlude section of the song. Good basis for the solos.

| God this is an excellent song. I'm not sure but I personally believe the two times the verse "Oh God, here's that question now, the one that makes me go insane / I'd gladly tear my heart out if you never, never, never, never change" they mean opposite of each other. The first time around of course the question is whether or not he wants to marry her, and as long as she stays the same way she is he'll commit his life to her. But so much happens musically between the two points that it's spoken so it could very well be the second time it is said, the man has already married the girl and they've been together for awhile. This time around I think the question is the woman asking, "Are you happy?" or "do you still love me" or something, and "tearing his heart out" is negative this time around. He'd gladly rip away his flesh if this girl stays the same way she is, because by this time he's gotten sick of her. Well, it's an Oingo Boingo song, which of course means it's not happy. ;) | |

| Love song, this one. loves (her) like (she) is right now, and maybe , at this point is tired of hearing the questions of validation. DO I look fat, am I pretty, do you love me, where is this relationship going? yet he is content to be where he is, and doesn't want the rest of the world's idea of how they should be. | |
