This is a song about the time when apertheid was supposedly over but then on prime time television the major networks show a camcorder film of four white police officers dragging the the black rodney king from his car and brutally beating tan innocent man. After the cops responsible were identified, they were put on trial, in front of a white, middle-class jury. Which is very unfair in a case involving four whites employed to uphold white middle class values, who clearly gave this poor black guy the beating of his life, on camera. On April 29th, 1992, the jury ruled the four police officers of any violent offence against Rodney King, despite the fact that the video clearly shows them delivering a vicious, sustained and unprovoked attack on this unarmed black civilian going about his business. To the black community, this legal decision meant that the US Government had said in a court of law: "we can do whatever we want to the black community, and we will never be punished or held responsible". Stuck Between A Rock...’ is a song which illustrates how nothing has changed in government attitudes towards equality, by comparing events set in motion by the likes of Dr. King to the events surrounding another King; Rodney." Id like to have said i wrote this but nope its off the site :(
