(riff 1) intro
(variant 1) intro
concrete and chaos rise up (riff 1)
spiderweb across the land like a giant rash. (riff 2)
forests lie down below (riff 1)
foundations of buildings in a bed of ash. (riff 2)
people here got it real good, (riff 1)
'cuz the glass towers bring prosperity. (riff 2)
and other people starve in the street (riff 1)
concrete knows no sympathy. (variant 2)

F G C
big city, big city
F G C
big city, big city
F G C
big city, big city
F C
big city, it's a wishing well.
F C
big city, it's a living hell.

this town, it's fucking insane: (riff 1)
one will starve and another will gain. (riff 2)
it's like a giant mechanical brain, (riff 1)
and the people are cells and the streets are veins. (riff 2)
F G C
it thinks only of itself,
F G C
thousand limbs crawling it expands and grows,
F G C
and still the concrete sits there,
F G C
sits there stark gray and cold.

(riff 3)(second half only)
(riff 3)(second half only)
and i think i wanna be a brick layer, (riff 3)
so i can put another brick in the wall. (riff 3)
it's stanitary, rational, and happy and sane. (riff 3)
growing like a flower to surround us all. (riff 3)

Why do you say NYC can suck your whatever a schmee is? Where would your precious punk-rock be without New York? EVERYONE is not corrupt in NY, get that straight. There are 8 million people here, okay? There are truly amazing people here, of every kind and every race. I'm sure you can't say that about Mt. Pleasant. I enjoy Op Ivy, but this is a kind of one-sided view of the city. City=Bad. Yeah, well, the Bay area isn't exactly Hickville. You don't think there's corruption and greed going on in your neck of the woods? You're fucking wrong, it's just played out differently. As long as there's money to be made, there will be corruption and greed, no matter where you are. It's just the cities are where the money concentrates.
