	It could be taken as thoughts that repeat themselves compulsively in your head over and over. ones that you know are seperate from reality but are illusions that you dont know how to defuse. they could be suffocating through someone else and cope through hatered. they then seek revenge blindly to feed their own self destruction as their means of coping.

	if its really about a serial killer or something that would really suck if you ask me i think its about the end of a really serious relationship maybe even a marriage. remember that mikael said that he picked personal subjects for the delivarance and damnation records. well not nessecarilly (how ever you write that :p im not english or american) about himself but also about things that happend to his friends or family ( he says that on the lamentations dvd) so maybe one of his friends got divorced or at least a long relationship. i get that from the part "from nothing to a life code" the first part is about the relationship it selfs , first the good things but then bad things. than the relationship ended "all over now , forgotten why i needed this..." the last part is about the title deliverance. i think refers to finally have found true love. but the irony is "deliverance thrown back at me, deliverance laughing at me" because the relationship wasnt actually deliverance for him. this also explains the structure of the song because you could devide it into 3 parts musically as well as lyrically

	the first song i heard by Opeth. so brilliant. unusual time signature, and that guitar solo, oh my god, i love that guitar solo. true, yea, maybe the devil is guiding him to drown a pregnant women.

	This song is about Satan. the devil guides the day tells me what to say pours himself inside and snuffs the final light deliverance thrown back at me deliverance laughing at me Perhaps the narrator is insane or actually under the control of Satan. I think the life code part means electrical impulses from his brain to his muscles(life code). Nothing, then he starts to think about killing and can't resist. all over now forgotten why i needed this standing down disappear into the obscure resting days waiting for new disease biding time looked inside insanity Waiting for new disease to me means that he is waiting for the urge to kill to come again.

	It looks like hes talking about drowning someone (face down beneath the waterline/gazing into the deep); the "piercing sounds" would be the victim's screams. Once the person is killed, all thats left of him/her are the scars he/she left on the narrator. Salvation for the victim comes being murdered, and in commiting the murder, the narrator has lost his deliverance.

	The whole point of music is about how it makes you feel and how you as a person interprate the song and lyrics. ive seen several differnt views on this song and as far as im concerd they are all valid. except i find it hard to believe the song is about a movie four guys who go on a canoe and camping trip where one of them gets rapped by a bunch of redneck hillbillies, another drowns and another kills two people. although the one who does drown, drowns himself, suposssedly. its uncleary but he clutchs his head and falls into the river. one claims he was shot but where never really sure. I'm going with the virgin child story and how she is drowned. Maybe its about what Joeseph feels like doing when finds out that Mary was pregnat with Jesus? 'cos that what i'd feel like doing to woman if i found that my woman, who id never had sex with was pregnant.

	Form nothing to a life code means to concieve a "virgin" child. Hence the one being slandered by the devil Jesus. Deliverance seems to be about Jesus's temptation and quarrels with Satan, however Mikael's lyrics have more than one meaning. see my other comments for on other Deliverance tracks fore more Jesus referrances.

	i love the song, it's really great songwriting but i dont really get the lyrics. does he metaphorically refer to a relationship or ist this just chliche deathmetal stuff about sin, darkness and ..death without any deeper sense behind it?
