	monlapse vertigo, he is not talking about a relationship between a slave and a white woman, hes the fucking demon of the fall. he is death. My Arms, Your Hearse? didnt that ring a bell? his presence blackens all around him. and in this case, keeping with the theme of the saga he has unfolded, moor means a broad area of open land, often high but poorly drained, with patches of heath and peat bogs. this kind of area is perfect for setting the mood of darkness and despair that he obviously feels because he cannot be with Melinda, his true love. people arent predjudiced against him because he is black...HE IS DEATH, THE DEMON OF THE FALL.

	yeah moonlapse vertigo, a pretty strange title. i first that moonlapse was a pretty difficult way to say: a month. but that doenst really seems to make any sense. and the song itself: there isnt really that much to the song. the i-person is still trying to get to melinda and he discribes his feelings and his surroundings: europe in the middel ages at the time of the plague. and how about he has to stay out of the hands of the authorities.

	Hellfighter, a Moor is indeed a black man in specific cases, but not in this case at all. 'Passing swiftly through the moor' The Moor in this case and I'm almost every other case you'll hear excluding Othello, lol, is a tract of open, peaty wasteland, often overgrown with heath, common in high latitudes and altitudes where drainage is poor. In Moonlapse Vertigo, I believe he is sneaking about the town, as he had been banished 16 years ago, and if any of the town guards catch him they will murder him, which ends up inevitably being the case anyway. Another possibility is that the man is murdering town guards as he sneaks about, no doubt looking for his love, Melinda. "Across the leafy pathway Their deeds smeared in blood For all to behold" An absolutely amazing piece no doubt, and one that sculpted my way into Opeth being my favourite band evarrrrrrrrrrrrr. \m/
