| It could be in reference to a person who had died in the midst of a fight, and who's death had sort of, ended it, could be how the title came to be. The line "Asking you who is the one?" would suggest a spirit not quite yet realizing that he is dead. The part where he says, "Near the site for one who's lost his trials" might also suggest a convict found guilty. This line also gives off a 16'th century kind of vibe, with gallows and all that. But maybe that's just me. | |

| wow no one has commented on this song yet. ha dont i feel special to get that first remark in. well this is a very pretty song i think, with more clean vocals then usually is put out from the group. reminds me of funeral services. i think it could then be taken in so many ways; because i think it could then represent any part of life leaving, or waiting for something that may never come. friends, family, emotions, thoughts. | |

| i think tis is sort of an honour song, honour to the dead. honour to the people you have lost. and its also about life goes on (still day beneath the sun) so mourn for your loved ones and honour them but then go on with your life | |

| these coments all make sence, but i wana share my point of view even though its kinda the same.... i think this song represents a lost spirit... a close one, a loved one too..... it shows the feelings that a person might feel when he/she has lost someone soooo close....how ppl live in his/her own sad, griefing and melancholic world after loosing someone so special....... a song for a dead person... when my b/f died i dedicated this song to him in the radio...... also "to bid u farewell" for opeth.... may he RIP.... and the person who opeth wrote this song for...... \m/ metal is forever... someday metal will be all that there is.... LUMA a.k.a the metal goddess, princess of darkness and the ruler of all that is evil.... | |
