Sounds like its like putting on this false cover to hide everything that you've become, including faults....Starting an army of fake people in a sense...

it sounds to me like it's about people who hide their faults and evilness through religion, or justify their actions and demeanor by religion, and others like the one who created the "realigion" follow knowing their faults and find a way to justify it through the religion. But...the other people (the "We" in the song) can see through the lies and hypocracy.
