| It's about high school, that much should be obvious. The line "you traded in your high school ring, to get away from the pom pom boys and the jockstrap girls" is referring to how (in the 60s I believe) in high schools when a couple was "engaged" they would give each other "high school rings," or somesuch thing. Also, the girls would sometimes wear their boyfriend's jacket alot of the time, hence the pom pom boys/jockstrap girls. Any fool knows it's normally jockstrap boys/pom pom girls. | |

| I don't think it is so much about high school as it about the idea of image. | |

| High school is a long, toilsome journey we embark on to find our way home, with all sorts of dangers and diversions along the way (super pill = either attention defecit medication, or just plain ol' recreational drugs). The journey of high school is being likened to the epic poem The Odyssey by the Greek poet Homer. This is probably Jay's description of how high school was for him. I bet he was pretty weird in high school! Probably felt like someone from another time and/or dimension (coming from the 30th century perhaps?). | |
