| But back on the subject..... Goodbye To Romance is one of my absolute favs. It is so full of many feelings and emotions. Feelings of being shamed and shunned by friends yet missing them. Even a bit of feeling better off without them "I've been the king, I've been the clown Now broken wings can't hold me down I'm free again The jester with the broken crown It won't be me this time around to love in vain". Sometimes one needs to make some sort of closure after some big breakup (such as leaving a band) before they are able to go on to something new. That seems to me what this song is really about... Closure. And though written about Ozzy and his Sab days, one could so easily relate after any kind of a breakup. Music sooths the mortal soul. | |

| I am quoting "Ozzy was going through what he termed a "divorce," and he was depressed about it, and that's why I wrote, at the end of "Goodbye To Romance" - and there's another example - "Look ahead - forget about the past - I think the sun will shine," you know? I wrote that sitting in the demo studio in Birmingham near where Ozzy used to live as sort of a positive light shining through the darkness of his divorce from Black Sabbath. "Goodbye To Romance" was his title, but that's just a line out of an Everly Brothers song. " | |

| I know this is about his seperation from Black Sabbath, but it can also be about moveing away leaveing your love, life, and all your hopes and dreams right there. This is a great song! I love it because it gives you so much freedom to think of what you love and what you miss out of life. | |

| Even though this song is about Ozzy leaving Sabbath...I think it can be about love...about how you lost someone that meant the world to you...and just somehow, they might come back...atleast, this is what you're hoping for..."I guess that we'll meet, we'll meet in the end..." | |

| Yeah, as above comments say, the song is about missing what has past (Time with Sabbath) but looking forward to a better future (Solo Career and time with his family). This song also features a beautiful Guitar Solo from the late great guitarist Randy Rhoads... Gone but not forgotton... | |

| Laughable that he got kicked out you say, bellaicy? He did leave on his own briefly in '77 to be replaced on the road by David Walker (of Fleetwood Mac). But Ozzy left the Sabs for good in '79... whether he was fired or not, it was a mutual agreement that it would be best for the band due to Ozzy's outragious drug habits. Where you are most mistaken is that Sabbath never broke up after Ozzy leaving. They immediately hired Ronnie James Dio and put out Heaven and Hell the next year and eventually Mob Rules. And Ozzy didn't go into his drug induced depression and seclusion to his hotel room until After leaving Sabbath. | |
