Otep is a Los Angeles female-fronted nu-metal band. Witnessing a brief live performance impressed Sharon Osbourne enough for Otep to land a spot on Ozzfest before signing onto a label. Lead singer Otep Shamaya often uses spoken word or rap to deliver vocals.
Despite no musical similarities, their name has sometimes been mistaken with Opeth, a Swedish progressive death metal band.
