| What the first person said for this song's meaning. I'll have to agree with it... but it has a personally meaning to me. Feels like my life story right now. Not only when it comes to my dad but also another man who is very important to me in my life. See this is the kinda stuff that makes music and art really great. It can mean something to anyone, help them feel good, teach them... :) | |

| now that u point out the thing about his father i think that could be it, but before that i thot the song was about losing somthing then after u lost it realising how great it was. like he leaves a gf but then realizes that he really cares for her.. but now i think the situation w/ Raine;s father fits better.... | |

| i love olp, and always have. i have listened over and over to these lyrics, and the lyrics to all there songs. I met them recently, er jeremy and steve anyway, and they were such cool, down to earth ppl. i swear that between these lyrics and their personalities, they are a pretty much perfect beings. | |

| tool.freak is absouletly right. I always thought it was about a kid who didnt get along with his father but really inside he loved him so after he heard he died ( "a phone call made me realize I'm wrong", maybe someone called him to tell him his father died). The line "Sunny days that we ignored because we're all dumb and jaded" means that they spent all their time fighting and not noticing what a nice day it was. Well there a lot of line's that could prove my meaning right if you read it. Anyways it a really great song and its really good to listen to if your sad. | |

| i completely agree with everything that everyone has said about this song so there's no need to repeat it. i just thought i'd say that on the 4th of july i went up to milwaukee, WI to see them at Summerfest and it was just unbelievable (my 2nd time). i love how he lets the crowd sing a whole song, and this was the song that he chose. i was really glad that he did because it means so much to me. whenever i listen to OLP my heart swells with love, appreciation, and respect. and seeing them live is a very moving experience. everyone should when they get the chance. heh, i even got steve and jeremy to sign my shoes afterwards. raine and duncan didnt come out though :( but there's always the chicago show! lol. -saM-> | |

| This is one of the first OLP songs I heard, and it totally shocked me. I don't even have to explain to the fans what I mean, but it's like I have never felt like a band was relating to me any more. There is not one song on any of their CD's that don't inspire or infulence me. 4 a.m. means more to me than anything and it helped me deal with a situation with me and my father. Damn...I love this band | |

| i'm a fairly new OLP fan, but I have to say that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this song. This is the song that made me a fan. I don't really know what else to say. Oh yeah, baseline, this song was a single. I've seen the video, not too bad, but not the best OLP video I've seen. | |

| Everyone beat me to the meaning, so all that is left is for me to critique it. In a good way, of course. This song makes me cry. I think anyone can relate to this song about any person in their life, not just people who have a lousy relationship with someone. It can be a good relationship, yet you never tell the person how much they mean to you. The music video is awesome too. I can't help but cry at the end when the guy is lying on the sidewalk and Raine comes over to help him up. | |

| The message behind the song is pretty obvious, but you probably didn't know that Raine wrote this song after having a dream that his father was in the hospital dying. In the dream, he didn't make it to the hospital in time to say I love you. So in the song he says if he doesn't make it, if it really happens, know that I've always loved you although we haven't really talked alot. | |

| this song is the greatest song that our lady peace does live. this is a true fan song. for those of you who have seen olp you know what i am talking about . for those of u who dont raine says " i walk...." then stops turns the mic to face teh crowd and the crowd sings the whole song with raine jsut standing there listening. this is real impressive because he does not help the crowd out at all and this song was never a single and only olp fans know it. so for all of u who have sang along to this song at a concert. i say thank you | |

| I think this song is about Raine and his father having differences, in religion, I think, and about putting them aside and just being father and son. This is about there being a certain point when you just have to let things go, because you never know if something might happen, and it would be terrible to have all this on your shoulders if something bad happened. | |

| I bought "clumsy" a bit more than a week ago, and I know it all by heart... the first time I've listened to it was in the airport on my wat home and the first lyrics I've read were these, and I related so damn much! not in the father-dghter way, but about a guy I have a bad crush on for the past 2 years, and he doesn't know a bloody thing... all the hoping to God and trying to be someone else... I love it! :D | |
