I have an interpretation for this song that I have come up with on my own. I believe that this song is about someone who has betrayed someone else, pretty much fucked up and they are saying that they have to change, that they will change. I put a personal spin on the song by believing that they person who has been betrayed is myself, and that I have been betrayed by myself. When I "woke up in hell today/ woke up depressed and drained" but that it is OK because you promise yourself that you will change. "Don't quit me" --dont give up on yourself..etc.."standing in the middle of yesterday/ where it all went wrong"--the realisation of it all...I know this probably makes no sense ...it is like 4:00 in the morning..I was just listening to this song and it took on this meaning for me

"I'm sorry for the things I forgot to say, but it won't be long till it'll be okay" was the quote I used in my senior yearbook. :)

I really like this song...I used to listen to spiritual machines all the time during the summer before my freshman year, but i never really listened to the lyrics to this song until the other day when i popped this cd in, and i almost cried. These lyrics are so powerful, and like everyone else says, :) i can relate to the lyrics, and it makes the song that much better

At first I thought this song was from the perspective of an abusive partner, it fits some of the lyrics, but after reading biggreenmonkey's post I completely agree it's about an addiction. The singer has some addiction and indulging in it hurts someone close to him, so he keeps saying he'll stop, and begging his loved one not to leave him, but he can't stop. I like this song, it's very powerful because it conveys to us the anguish a person with a harmful addiction feels over all of the pain they are inflicting on their loved ones and themselves.

I basically thought SM was an album about addiction, so here goes this one: An addict keeps making these promises to someone he loves. But he keeps blacking out when he's drinking or using, so he can never remember what he's supposed to be making up for. (Aparently I'm to blame, but aparently I've been framed, by a memory that won't help me) On a side note, I almost cried when I read in the lyrics booklet 'I'll never let this happen again' was scratched out, because that's exactly what it is: the addict promises to change, but it's the same crap over and over, and everyone knows it.
