Our Lady Peace - Somewhere Out There
Transcribed by Guido Botindari

Tune 1/2 down
[Intro/ Verse:]
Intro / Chorus Riff:
D G Em G

--------------------------------------------------
D
Last time I talked to you,
G
you were lonely and out of place.
Em
You were looking down on me,
G
lost out in space.

Laid underneath the stars,
strung out and feeling brave.
Watch the riddles glow,
watch them float away.

Em G

Down here in the atmosphere,
garbage and city lights,
you gotta save your tired soul,
you gotta save our lives.

Turn on the radio,
to find you on sattellite,
I'm waiting for the sky to fall,
I'm waiting for a sign.

[Prechorus:]
Em G
All we are is all so far.

[Chorus:]
D Asus
You're falling back to me,
G
the star that I can't see.
Em
I know you're out there,
G
somewhere out there.

You're falling out of reach,
defying gravity,
I know you're out there,
somewhere out there.

D Asus G E G

Hope you remember me,
when you're homesick and need a change.
I miss your purple hair,
I miss the way you taste.

I know you'll come back someday,
on a bed of nails awake.
I'm praying that you don't burn out,
or fade away.

[Prechorus:]
Em G
All we are is all so far

[Chorus:] (with Intro riff)
D Asus
You're falling back to me,
G
the star that I can't see.
Em
I know you're out there,
G
somewhere out there.

You're falling out of reach,
defying gravity,
I know you're out there,
somewhere out there.

D Asus

[Bridge:] Use Riff

You're falling back to me,
the star that I can't see.
I know you're out there, oh.
You're falling out of reach,
defying gravity....

E5
I know you're out there,
E5
somewhere out there.

[Chorus:]

You're falling back to me,
the star that I can't see.
I know you're out there,
somewhere out there.

You're falling out of reach,
defying gravity,
I know you're out there,
somewhere out there.

You're falling back to me,
the star that I can't see.
I know you're out there,
somewhere out there.

You're falling out of reach,
defying gravity,
I know you're out there,
somewhere out there.

[outro:]
D Asus
You're falling back to me.
G
Em
Well I know,
G
I know.
D Asus
G
You're falling out of reach.
Em
I know...

This song reminds me of my ex, it gives me hope that we might not be over and theres still a chance, or maybe not but I still like to hope, this song describes that feeling.

This is probably their most emoesque song they've written. THey have really doen a good job of hiding the loss of their guitar player who was so instrumental of their songcraft and was one of the reasons I loved olp so much. Maybe this is a change in their music, but regardless they still kick ass.

This song means so much to me that I have to say more about it. I've been listening to this song nonstop, and I realized what it means to me is so much more than I have realized before. This is my last year in High School, and like I said earlier, this girl I have feelings for is still in my heart. I guess this song to me is that I am leaving and maybe for good. And I guess I realized I have only a limited amount of time till I leave the lives of some people I hold dear. I guess I am only human, and I can't hold on to all that is around me, but it doesn't mean I can't. I guess every time I hear this song, it makes me cry a little, and yet realizing I have only a limited amount of time till I am gone, and I have to make every moment count. The line "Last time I talked to you, you were lonely and out of place" is the best line that describes my feelings. And perhaps one day, me and her will run into each other and smile and talk... but till then, I will live my hoping, wondering about her. I like to dedicate this song to Amy...Please tell me at least we will know each other for a long time to come.

good song, i just don't like the lyric, "on a bed of nails i wait," it's a blatant rip from "with or without you" by U2, but other than that it's a very meaningful song

This song reminds of the boyfriend I don't have. The hope that there's someone out there somewhere for me. It's such a beautiful song.

i feel that olp, to me anyway is wayyyy popular here in the U.S! anyway, i am constantly looking forward to hearing olp grow musically and find it dissapointing that Mike has gone astray, however olp will continue to be great. This song proves that olp keeps outdoing themselves in making awesome music .

This song makes me feel like that there is hope for me. It's like a friend which I love dearly, and some day, hopefully, she'll realize the truth about my feelings. I just can't seem to let it shake. I guess this song makes me feel free, like when I am walking on the streets of Milwaukee, in an industral area, where all you see is the tired old buildings, still up. Like my own soul. Lay down your arms, And follow me out there.

OLP needs no further praise, the music speaks for itself. In an industry overrun with the Brittney Spears and NSYNC its nice for a band whose songs have such meaning. OLP is definately that band. Somewhere out there makes me think of two of my friends from high school, and since i graduated last year, weve said very little. But im sure that one day well be on better terms.
