I think the song is about a young man who hates his life, and finally gets to go out and live on his own. He tries to discover why life is worth living, but finds nothing. He still has the same issues that have plagued him. 'The pressure is deceiving, and for you particularly Should we let a young man die? Let him die if he wants to? Die if he wants to.' I think the three lines above are thoughts of 'God' (represented by Naveed). 'Climbing down the hours I need to know now Do the hands of time only rule this chapter I'll have to try once again, I'll have to try when I want to Try when I want to.' This is the guy commiting suicide. 'Prayer's on his knees again, trying hard to understand Why Naveed would let a young man die Convinced that he might break, he reaches for the phone And then another day has gone Oh another day is gone.' 'Prayer' refers to a friend- this friend is asking God (Naveed) why He (She/It/Whatever) would allow someone to take their own life. Prayer doesn't understand, and feels alone, so he picks up a phone, and it allows him to go through another day with his grief, to remain alive while his friend died.

Y does this song only have this many posts? This was the good OLP, the new stuff sucks. The first three cds rock, but after Happiness is not a Fish you can Catch, I think it went downhill from there... Best OLP song hands down, this or starseed anyways...

Story of a man who is trying to save another from doing something stupid (suicide). "Pressure is deceiving, for you particularly" and "were you hoping to find a little more" both suggest disillusionment with life. But should the writer try and save him or leave him to his fate???

I just want to comment to FaaipDeOaid. I completely agree that old olp was soo much better and deeper than the new stuff. This and starseed r my two favorite songs as well. I just saw them in concert last night tho, and they still rock. They played much more old stuff off naveed and clumsy than anything. They will always be amazing!...though i do prefer their old stuff by a long shot.

Come come Naveed... Naveed means: the bearer of good news. Lucifer means: the bearer of the light See a pattern? Are you there, and is it comfortable? Did you want to escape, try to escape the population? I believe this is the right side of an internal struggle, Lucifer's dialogue with his Satanic counterpart, an "Are ya happy now, Stupid?" kinda thing The pressure's deceiving, and for you par-ticu--larly To let a young man die? Let him die if he wants to, Die if he wants to. -The diatribe continues and death is discussed, but figuratively, dying as in a good person giving in to his evil tendencies. I can't live here anymore But It's hard when you reach for that floor something that tears me inside, so I can't go -Satan speaks up and gives this pathetic excuse. Brother are you there? Tell me is it wonderful? oh, Were you hoping to find, Hoping to find, something a little more? -Lucifer's/Naveed's best friend(we'll call him Amigo for now) asking him if it was worth it. Getting angrier. Counting down the hours I need to know now though the hands of time only rule this chapter I'll have to try once again, I'll have to try when I want to, Try when I want to -Amigo asking himself whether to save his friend, and eventually deciding that it's hopeless. I can't live here anymore But It's hard when you reach for that floor something that tears me inside, So I can't live here anymore Anymore, Any...more -Lucifer has now become Satan and decides to leave. There he's on his knees again, trying hard to understand, Why Naveed would let a young man die Amigo coping with his best friend's death, asking why Lucifer/Naveed would let himself die in place of Satan. He thinks that he might break, he reaches for that phone Amigo Reaches out to his friends and leaves his bad feelings behind. And then another day is gone Oh another day is gone Oh another day is Is gone ( x 16 ) I can't live here anymore But It's hard when you reach for that floor something that tears me inside, So I can't live here anymore Years later, Amigo Recalls what his friend said to him before he left, and know that he made the right choice.

It's about losing someone to suicide and wondering just where they went and what they are doing... I love the lines: Do the hands of time only rule this chapter? It's asking that eternal question. When we die, does time stop? Does the world stop? Or does it continue on... Does the world revolve around us, or is it bigger then us? Who can really answer it, for all we know of the world is what we see from our eyes. To me, I think the world does revolve around me, and this song is amazing, it makes me think every time I hear it... and I love that. About what Naveed means, I personally think that in this song Naveed has a religious meaning and it is basically the "lifeforce of the world" if that makes any sense (sounds like hippie talk I know, I'm not a hippie either lol). But it's like the guy is asking God just how he could allow his "brother" to take his own life and not allow himself to do the same. It's such a deep song, I'd love to hear what the guys were going for when they wrote it :)
