Pain is a ska-punk band based in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Though they have not produced any chart-topping hits, the band enjoyed a semi-mainstream following after Cartoon Network started airing a short two-minute music video set to their song Jabberjaw (Running Underwater), featuring the cartoon character of the same name along with "updated" versions of the rest of the show's characters.
Pain's sound is heavily ska-influenced, with an impressive horn section. The band is perhaps best defined by their fast-paced lyrics and clever rhythm schemes, both instrumental and spoken. Pain's lyrics are often humorous, touching lightly upon such subjects as Dungeons and Dragons and Arthurian legends, often creating entire plots and stories about fictional characters.
Most of the band's albums are now available on independent record label Springman Records.
