I had a good friend i went to school with and sailed yachts with. In 1997 he dropped school to go and crew on a yacht sailing to Hong Kong for a big regatta. The boat was caught in a cyclone and disappeared and despite much searching nothing was found. A few months later when everyone had given up hope for their lives we had a memorial service in our school chapel. The bootleg version of this song was played. It was incredibly moving with eddie wailing out these lyrics, echoing around the hall. R.I.P. Robert Murray 1980-1997

I think you have got it all wrong. This is simply a song about Eddies love of Surfing. He wrote it on the beach, and there are direct comments to surfing.

Eddie says at the end of the song: "A little love song I wrote about my surfboard (laughing), no actually it's about somebody named Beth, so hopefully I'll see her more. And what is this? It is a state of love and trust." After listening to it several times, I believe that is what he says.

Ive inlisted to the Israely Navy about two years ago, and around the same time I broke up with my boyfriend. It was a really sad and lonely time for me- to be away from my friends, my family, my dog Mookie... I dont remember much from those times, exept for all the tears I cried and this song playing in my head; So... thanx, Eddie. It really helped me to hold on through it all.

there i no "think" about, Eddie says on the unplgged version "that was a little love song I wrote about my surfboard... no actually its for someone named beth who hopefully i'll see tomorrow" This also shows it is before he broke up with her.

The second part he is referring to the next song. Also, throughout that song he repeatedly sings "Oh Beth, Oh Beth..."

In the unplugged version of this back in the day, eddie changed the last "oh yeah"'s to "oh Beth, oh beth," his wife. I don't know if the unplugged concert of this was before or after or during their separation. I'm about to leave for college and it sucks (in terms of friendships and relationships), this song is all i think about. MY favorite line is "...We're all allowed to dream of the next time we touch..."
