Might not be true, but I heard Ed just found a note somewhere with this stuff written on it and used it for lyrics..kinda like how jeff overheard someone talking about guns and jotted down "glorified g." Unless that's not true either. Heh, interpreting is fun.

I believe this song has to do with a note he got from Dennis Flemion from the cult band "The Frogs." On the No Code cd the lyrics are on a note and is signed from Dennis. Eddie introduced Dennis at a show I was at in Alpine Valley right before they sang the song "Smile." The Frogs toured with Pearl Jam for a while and are from Milwaukee. Good song though. At the show there was something wrong with the harmonica that Eddie was playing and he chucks it and sort of laughs when he starts singing "Don't it make you smile." Awesome memory.

I remember I once heard that the lyrics are what a fan had written on a postcard to the band, and scribbled on the card were three crooked hearts, with swirls all around.
