| the video definitely means more than just a bunch of fucked up images... its saying that this is what your body turns into when you die, and knowing eddies belief on god, this is what you will always be after you die with no afterlife, so make the most of your time here and dont 'waste' your life i completely agree with his beliefs on god | |

| I love this song at the moment. I have recently decided not to 'waste' my life and the lyrics are awesome to me. Oddly, this is the first thing i've heard by Pearl Jam. The album was one of some random free CDs my family got. I listened to this album and it ROCKS. | |

| As a huge PJ fan, I have to say that this song kicks ass. Much to the tune of the Mayor of Mr Show's "Altered state of Druggachusettes" declaring the pizza to be "AWESOME!" Almost too good of a song, IMO. Especially considering the weakness of Binaural and the averageness of Riot Act. As for its meaning.....well.... I think its obivous. BTW, over the years I have left about 30 posts on this site for random bands and find that all but about 4 have been deleted. Maybe its the last name!?! LOL.....I dunno but Im dissapointed. HAHA. Either way, Im glad to see the band I grew up worshipping is back. | |

| so many great lines in this song! "You're always saying that there's something wrong. I'm starting to believe it's you're playing along. Death came around, forced to hear it's song And know tomorrow can't be depended on" basically saying: stop doubting yourself! there is so much you can do in this world. Death could come any time so use what little time you have on this Earth to do some good! "And know tomorrow can't be depended on": You have to make the effort! "Seen the home inside your head. Unlocked doors and unmade beds Open sores unattended Let me say just once that I have faced it, a life wasted. I'm never going back again" basically saying: the mindset you have for this world is a mess. you have to motivate yourself to fix yourself up before you have any chance of living your dreams. "The world awaits just up the stairs Leave the pain for someone else Nothing back there for you to find Or was it you you left behind" Once again: you have the whole world ahead of you! stop doubting yourself, and move on with life. "You're one with negativity Yes, comfort is an energy But why let the sad song play?" the line "comfort is an energy" puzzles me. my own interpretation is that Eddie is speaking out to a person who is to afraid/unconfident to move outside their comfort zone and achieve their dreams. It's as if the comfort is an energy or force binding them from moving on. He's asking them to break free of this binding, and achieve more. all up, an awesome inspirational song. | |

| I really loved the song- it deffinetly pin-points a common problem in today's youth, but I just saw the video, and I must say; WTF?!?!? have PJ become a trash metal band while I wasnt watching? that is one of the worst videos I'v ever seen, and it hurts me to say that about one of my favourite bands... | |

| What a killer opening track,.... This song I think is kind of along the lines of Save You,... Except with much more life in the delivery,... I mean I loved Save You, but the vocal delivery was kinda lacking,.,... The most kick ass line in the song,... You're always saying you're too weak to be Strong. You're harder on yourself than just about Anyone | |

| This is the best PJ leadoff track ever. It is one of their best songs and is becoming a hit, I heard it on the radio the other day. But, I have to ask, what is the album concept? I mean the artwork. It has an avocado on the cover and Vedder with a bunch of bloody heads inside. The booklet has a bunch of sculptures and weird photos. I think it looks cool, but what is the meaning behind it? | |

WWS & life wasted? anyway, i have to say it's one of the best lyrically songs. i think it's about when someone became so tired of life and think there's no way to go on." i think its about one of the band members escaping a "life wasted" by forming pearl jam and influencing a lot of lives, avoiding working at a gas station for their whole lives and accomplishing nothing, now when they look back on their lives they can say they accomplished something | |

| I listened to a radio interview with Eddie Vedder, Mike McCready and Stone Gossard recently. In referring to their song, they basically said that there was a time when they were wasting their lives in publicity, depression, drugs, etc. They came to realise this, and made a conscious decision to never go back to that again. They also speak out in their sorrow for so many people in the world who waste their lives in similar ways, or ruining the environment, or living to accumulate money, or being so lame people actually give a damn about what celebrities eating habits are so on. Eddie's basically saying: there is so much out there in the world that you can do, have an impact on, and get great joy out of - so get your arse off the couch, get out there and do it! | |

| i dont get it, how come people are saying they hate the video? i honestly think it's awesome. it's raw, it's honest - and it has meaning. the images of the band members as dead people has been said to send the message that we're all going to end up dead one day, so make the most out of your life. | |
