COME BACK - Pearl Jam

Tuning: Standard
As far as I know there hasn't been a complete (or correct) version of this
solo posted. I'm very confident this version is correct. I'm a long time PJ fan
and saw them a couple times in Chicago last month, they rocked! I definately
recommend catching them on their '06 tour sometime.
About this solo: Timing is everything, pay very close attention. I did my best
to mark the time throughout this song but Mike often holds a bend or delays a
hammer-on/pull-off. You need to listen for these and play accordingly. And
lastly, keep on rockin' in the free world.

| Great song. The meaning is pretty obvious- it's simply about losing someone, whether that be to death or just a lost relationship. But, man... garaloo's "high school dance" comment kinda ruins it for me, lol... | |

| I agree with Norguard in that this song is about a woman in a conversation with her battle-slain husband, since the whole album is really Eddie Vedder speaking out against the war and George W. Bush. Very 50s like. I have to be in the mood to listen to this because of the slow-blues crawl, but it still is a very beautiful song. | |

| this is a great sad song. Really portrays a great vocal song for eddie. Its about losing someone you truely love and wish in everyway for them to return."I have been planning out All that I'd say to you Since you slipped away" Shows regrets of before they died. HAving something to say, but never getting the chance. This song has a "highschooldance" kinda feel. Lovely though. | |

| This song is about losing someone close, or even becoming distant from someone who is very dear. The singer wishes that they could have more time with the person, and hopes the memories of that person will always remain. It's a special song to me. | |

| Apparently Eddie Vedder said in concert in New Jersey that this song is part two in a two part series, part one being "Man Of The Hour". That part one is the young man saying farewell to his father and part two is the young man two months later wishing he would come back. Makes sense... Either way, amazing song, especially the last chorus, its seriously powerful. Cant wait for them to tour Australia :D | |

| This song, in my opinion, is better than "Parachutes" and "Gone". I like the slow blues and soulful mood it creates. The lyrics are pretty obvious, but you don't have to have confusing metaphors in each song. Vedder does have a great voice, and it shows here. | |

| In their second night in San Francisco, the band merged the "Life Wasted Reprise" as a prelude to "Come Back", and on the following third night, did the same with the Reprise and "Man of the Hour"... maybe there is a connection between the songs! This song is really great. I resent the "High school dance" comment as well, just because I don't won't people to take it for granted as something it was clearly never meant to be. The song is a slow-moving soul number. It's really a homage to the early hits of Otis Redding, a truly AMAZING artist and with that timing the number is a new-age torch song, NOT something to taken lightly. You can dance to it, but dance with someone you love in privacy. That's the only way to make it count. I really hope this song makes it as a late single for the album after "Severed Hand". I enjoy it better than "Parachutes", which still a good song, but I care little for "Gone". | |

| Well they hit it right on the head,... I took a little road trip up to Toronto last night, to see them perform,... They played this song, and blew the album version to hell,... And the ALBUM version is AMAZING!!!! This is easily one of their best songs EVER, anything negative I have ever said about the album because of it's relative lack of slow or mellow songs in comparison to Albums like No Code or Riot Act, pretty much went the way of the Dodo last night with Eddie belting this song out,.. This song was the highlight of a night I will remember for the rest of my life,.. It's ok, Come back, I'll be here,... and then the harmonizing,... simply amazing,... | |

| This song is a continuation of Army Reserve - much like the rest of the album, it keeps the war constantly in the background. It's a chat between the wife and the memory of her husband. ...the imagery of the broken roof in the family structure is pretty intense. A beautiful piece that's really reminiscent of '50s rock. It's got those Earth Angel qualities, and I suppose it's Pearl Jam's official take on Last Kiss, which is from the same era as the chord/melody structure in this song. | |
