Lyrics:
Is there room enough for both of us?
Both of us apart?
Are we bound out of obligation?
Is that all we got?
(I)Get the words and then I get to thinking
I don't want to think I wanna feel
How do I feel?
How do I?
Chorus:
If you're the only one
Will I ever be enough?
Hail hail the lucky ones
I refer to those in love
Swore I'd love till the day I die
And beyond
Are we going to the same place?
If so, can I come?
It's egg rolling thick and heavy
The past we carry
I could be new
You underestimate me
Chorus
I sometimes realize
I could only be as good
As you let me
Are you woman enough to be my man?
Bandaged hand in hand
Chorus II:
?
?
Hail hail the lucky ones
I refer to those in love
That you're the only one
So good you, only one
I want to be your one
Your one
Your one

"Are you woman enough to be my man?" - It's got nothing to do with Eddie, Stone wrote it.

to me it´s a song that speaks about the relation inside the band. How eddie feels inside it. Try reading the lyirics again. It makes sense.

this is one of those moments in a relationship when youre so pissed at each other that you cant even think of why youre together in the first place ("are we bound out of obligation? is that all we got?") when you think of of happier times or other happy couples, you just get jealous of them ("hail hail the lucky ones, i refer to those in love") you dont even want to win the argument, you just want to end it and have things back to normal (i want to be your one. enough! you won!")

I sometimes realize I could only be as good as you'll let me. Are you woman enough to be my man? Bandaged hand in hand. I was thinking of this in the light of relationship. Every person is flawed, no one is perfect. "Only good as you'll let me"...its as if each person in a relationship is hindered in some way by their mate. If none of use are perfect, and we bring our imperfection into the relationship, then the other person in the relationship is now affected by the same imperfections. The second line seems to be some sort of response to the first line. If a woman asks a man if he is woman enough to be her man, she wants to know if he will understand what she is. Same way as saying, Are you man enough to be my woman...do you know enough about me, or men in general to understand me. Maybe the first part of only be as good is a situation where the woman hinders the man because she doesn't understand him and his nature. Bandaged hand in hand is just the completion of that thought. We are all damaged in some way, and in relationships, we are just two wounded people making a connection.

Definately a staple Pearl Jam song in just about everyone's book. This song rocks. I think it's about feeling a relationship should be more than a sense of duty.

The song is clearly about a very one-sided relationship, being from the point of view of the one who is not in control, or who feels inferior to the other. (If you're the only one, will I never be enough [for you]?) The entire second verse is further evidence of this. The song can be from the male's point of view. "Are you woman enough to be my man?" is quoting the woman in the relationship. The whole song is the male POV, and he's 'quoting' the female to further support his case that he's not dominant in the relationship. The meaning of line itself is simple. The woman in a relationship is usually the submissive one, more or less. In this instance, her saying "Are you woman enough to be my man?" translates to "Are you submissive enough for this to work?" or "Are you willing to let me control this relationship?" On the other hand, if the whole song is from the female's perspective, then I would agree with jones518 on what that particular line means, i.e. "do you know enough about me, or *women* in general to understand me?" I completely disagree with the rest of her interpretation. "I sometimes realize I could only be as good as you'll let me," is clearly showing inequality in the relationship; one keeping the other down. "Bandaged hand in hand" I see as just more inequality in the relationship. One person is injured, the other isn't. He or she injures the other one, in whatever way, to keep them down.
