Pearl Jam Jeremy Guitar Tab

Jeremy Bass Tab
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jeremy - Pearl Jam
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tabbed by: Tory Haggerty March 25th, 2004
Email: toryhaggerty@hotmail.com
Tuning: Standard Tuning (EADBGE)
This is my first tab so bear with me. Can't say 100% if it's correct but it's a way to
play Jeremy acoustically with just one guitar and it sounds good. I didn't put the rhythm
in there, you will have to listen to the song for it but if you look at the notes in the
verse I just put the changes in there. You should be able to follow along. I recommend
playing the song kind of dirty in the sense that you should follow the notes but if you
hit some open strings in the verses it just gives it a more full sound. You'll see what I
mean when you play it. Enjoy!

for those of you who havent seen the unedited version of the video where "jermey" shoots himself in the head i strongly advise that you get on MIRC and download it from #videopimp on EFnet...they ripped it when it aired on MTVs most controversial videos...its a much more powerful video with the origanal ending of the video. The edited version gives the impression that he shoots his class which is (obviously) wrong...get it, its well worth it...

It wasn't banned because someone shot up their school, in the music video Jeremy kills himself in front of his classmates, and just because kids look 12 in a video doesn't mean that it was based on a 12 year old. It's adaptation, a filmmaker remaking something that exists into his own image of how he wants it to be.

one of the scenes they had to cut from the video was all the kids in the class doing the Nazi salute after the Pledge Of Allegiance. It was taken of the air after it's first airing, for being too violent and graphic. it DID NOT stop running because a kid did what happened in the video. It was created based on what the boy, jeremy, did. You can still see it sometimes on VH1, and I know they did a Pop-Up Video for it showing most of the cut footage.

I don't understand why people feel the need to censor things. Don't we have freedom of speech and expression in this country? This song is truly moving, if you really think about it. And so is the uncensored video.

I think that why this song was so effective in making people pay attention was because of the reason that the song directly didn't talk about what the song was based on, rather it gave hints that make you think as to what the song could be about. I know that if I hadn't seen the video I probably wouldn't have any idea what the song was talking about, lol

I always thought that the line went like this: "dead lay in pools of maroon BLOOD" instead of ...maroon BELOW. Seems to fit in better but I could be wrong. Great song, even better that it is a true story, well sad but better. I have never seen the video but am a huge Pearl Jam fan, is there a someplace I could see it somehow?

Written about Jeremy Wade Delle, a 16-year-old loner from Richardson, Texas, who'd taken a gun to school and shot himself dead in English class.

I don't think the SONG was controversial, just the video. That's why they cut a lot of the scenes from it, which brings me to the point I was going to make. They cut the scene in which "Jeremy" has the gun in his mouth, so when people see the video with the blood covering the children, they generally think the song is about him shooting his classmates. I can understand them making that assumption, because people who aren't really familiar with Pearl Jam can't really understand the lyrics (myself included). I definitely believe that the censorship of the video is what caused so much controversy over this song.

I love this song... I preformed it in my Drama audition and got a lead! lol And it's not quite about the quiet kid who never says anything, it's about the kid that has been hassled into never speaking, and is forced make himself heard by shooting himself in class... "Jeremy spoke in class today" And SixMeterPeter, comments like that made the Jeremy's of the world...
