Song: Rapture
Album: Control
Corrections: beenwashed@yahoo.com
Standard tuning
I plugged in my cute little Danelectro Pastrami, used about mid level and about
a quad's worth of overdrive. I would not doubt it if he used something else,
this is just what sounded like it, that I could get my hands on.

land.
What a great song. It took some patience to come up with this.
I watched David play this song, and most of the stuff he played was high on the
fret board (power chord like), so I figured this would be the best representation
of it that I could give, hope you enjoy. Please send corrections, comments,
concerns, Christmas wishes: beenwashed@yahoo.com

| Specifically to "bpuppy" above... I think the line "replaceable" was mentioning has nothing to do with Christian hoops. He/she was probably talking about those boundaries God set up for us in the Bible (you should check it out, Bazan wrote a song about those boundaries given to "save you from certain death" in the song "Of Minor Prophets and Their Prostitute Wives." My question to you is, why can't a Christian (say, me or "replaceable") be concerned about another Christian, which Bazan is by his own declaration. and God DOES care whether we condone certain immoralities, otherwise he wouldn't have set up the boundaries in the first place. i personally think the album is brilliant, but there's no reason for anyone to think he is condoning the practices sung about in his songs... the album was created to show this world's sicknesses. at least that's what Bazan is saying in interviews. at any rate, i didn't write this to tear you down, just thought i'd clear the air between you and old "replaceable" and protect Pedro's good name. | |

| All you Christians quiet, you're obviously not understanding that he's not condoning the actions, "pity thats not my wife" theres sarcasm in that. I think its about having impure thoughts and the angels calling him back are calling him back because he has gone astray. I hate Christian music, but Im willing to listen to his message because its real and comes from real problems, the problem with Christians (those which have problems with this song) is that they are too scared of the truth behind adultery to accept music which reflects a problem even with Christian musicians, lust. | |

| yeah, replaceable, it's talking about sex, but he's drawing analogies, and telling a story... not necessarily condoning the actions of the characters in the story. although i think that some of it could have been less graphic. personal preference. | |

| No one should get mad at him, he doesn't do this to his wife. Its just a charactor he has created in his head which happens to be alot of people out in the world. "We've gone too far We've done too much We have to quit it Just one more kiss Just one more touch Please 10 more minutes " Right here the guy knows what hes doing is wrong but he is weak and cant stay faithfull to his wife. "To Reach their goal. . . Oh my sweet rapture I hear Jesus and the angels singing Hallelujah Calling me to enter the promise land." The man in this story things its so great that hes cheating on his wife because he calls her his rapture, which can mean overwhelming joy or extacy. I think that point represents the orgasim at which he feels like he is in heaven at that moment. | |

| bravo, "fading." again, i think it's important to remember it's a story and not something directly from bazan's life, but your point is exactly right. too many christians criticize music and literature that desribes things that aren't "good," even though they are explorations of real life. plus, the use of sarcasm or satire is often unfortunately lost. | |

| i read an interview on decapolis.com and he talks about rapture. it is about how deprived the character is of god and how he thinks that cheating on his wife is as good as it gets and it is his rapture. it makes a point about how starved of god most people are. by the way this is not a pesonal story david almost always writes in fictional characetrs. | |

| Specifically to "Replaceable" above ... Why does Pedro the Lion have to jump through Christian hoops? What lines are they crossing and who drew those lines? Why does his opinion matter only if he's a Christian and why should he care what any of us think? He's a human, making art for his own reasons ... God forbid he write songs about sex, or that have "bad words" in them (insert sarcasm here). Who the hell cares ... I KNOW God doesn't care about all this petty, "Is he a Christian or not ... Is he condoning pre-marital sex" crap. He's got bigger fish to fry. Let Pedro make their honest, open, brilliant music, and support them in it. Quit trying to force them into boxes people make for them. | |

| this song is brilliant. to "replaceable"....i am a christian and i see nothing wrong with this. we all deal with problems, but he is one of the only artists out there to actually "come out" with the problems....but anyways, i love the use of the word rapture. it just shows that god is always watching his actions. amazing. one of my favorite songs | |

| David Bazan has had some pretty s****y experiences in life. Music is an outlet to vent those things a person regrets and I think this song, though unacceptable in a traditional Christian mind, is the epitomy of emotion. I like that it pushes the envelope and I like that Christians don't know what to say about him. He's so talented and I think the song gives an awesome testimony... "pity that it's not my wife" Obvious satire... anyways, go Pedro! | |
