	I was actualy thinking it was more about a rebirth of comunisum not a fall of it... that's how Neil Tennant ment it to be, I thought. And it really is unfortunate that such an anthemetic communist song had to be origanaly about the San Francisco migration... really, that doesn't preturb the heterosexual capitolists at all, now does it?

	This one is obviously about the fall of communism in the Soviet Union. At first I thought it might be Manifest Destiny, but those burly sounding guys, the music video and the time it came out in all make it concrete.

	I think the Pet Shop Boys intended this song to have far more meaning than the Village People did. Watching the video the song has to be about the fall of communism, however you get a hint of sarcasm that perhaps the west isn't that much better at running it's countries. The Village People original certainly seems to me to be less political, perhaps svenqurk's comment is correct on that one.
