to do the thing that she does best

Stumbling as we fall from grace
she needs my vision to replace
her ailing sight throughout the night
leaving two holes in my face
mary was a friend i'd say
'till one summer day
she borrowed everything i own
and simply ran away.

| This is the only Phish song I ever heard played on my local radio stations, on one particular station around here. I have no idea what the rest of their songs sound like. I suppose the song is about not worrying about the heavy things in life and just enjoying well... this song seems to be about women and the good memories he has of them. When I tried to step inside, I moved to where they hoped I'd be... no idea. I don't think Phish fans like to interpret the lyrics, but I'm curious, would like a better idea what they're talking about. | |

| I really like this song, and agree with the "Sparkle" comparison. It's a nice changeup to Phish's normal sound, while still feeling like Phish. | |

| I like it, has the same attributes as Sparkle, sad lyrics to an upbeat tempo, with some good lines: "Stumbling as I fall from grace. She needs my vision to replace. Prevailing sight throughout the night. Leaving two holes in my face." | |

| reminds me of that maxwell edison song by the beatles where it's not such a nice topic, but the way they're talking about it is in a cheerful manner. it's about how bad stuff always happens and when it keeps happening you feel like it's aimed at you. for him it's problems with girls (vanessa, tilly, mary), nothing in his love life seems to be going right and he's starting to think there's something wrong with him | |
