Coming Back To Life
-------------------
Words & Lyrics: David Gilmour
From _The Division Bell_ (c) 1994

C F
Where were you when I was burned and broken
Am G F
While the days slipped by from my window watching
C F
Where were you when I was hurt and I was helpless
Am G F
Because the things you say and the things you do surround me
Am F
While you were hanging yourself on someone else's words
Am Bb
Dying to believe in what you heard
Am7 G C
I was staring straight into the shining sun

C F
Lost in thought and lost in time
Am G F
While the seeds of life and the seeds of change were planted
C F
Outside the rain fell dark and slow
Am G F
While I pondered on this dangerous but irresistible pastime
Am F
I took a heavenly ride through our silence
Am Bb
I knew the moment had arrived
Am7 G C
For killing the past and coming back to life

Am | G | F | F |
C | C | F | F |

And headed straight... Into the shining sun

I can't beleive nobody's commented on this song. I'm one of the VERY rare few who likes the "new" Pink Floyd material a lot more, sans Roger Waters. This song grabs me by the balls and doesn't let go and I can completely relate to it. Once you get past the super long intro. the solid, steady rhythm really kicks in (and justifies the intro. for those who don't like it) and it flows like water until the very end. Thank you Pink Floyd. PLEASE release another record!

Pink Floyd's music transcends you into another world. This song is beautiful, and like most of their songs, full of emotion that grabs you and won't let go. ReaperKK, I also listen to this song when I am upset, and it does help. I think the song is talking about betrayal and a person not getting a chance and then realizing that life goes on and so must they.

almost every song that Pink floyd has made is about the life of Syd the first singer of the band and a very good friend of David Gilmour.

Hey Arnold, you might be right. Anyhow, this song starts off kinda sad, and then when the guitar kicks in its real uplifting, hencee the name coming back to life. I reckon this song is beautiful, and I love it.

When I listen to this song, I think of it as a way of looking beyond the past. It seems like it is saying that you were trying to get help from someone who ended up letting you down, then in the end you finally find your own way.
