I don't think that it has anything to do with physical abuse, I think it's all emotional abuse. Pink has problems expressing emotion. No matter how hard his wife tried to get some love and attention out of him, it's like she's just talking to a WALL. I could be wrong, maybe there was physical abuse, but the meaning would be just the same if it is actually only about emotional abuse.

It ties in with "One of My Turns". The girlfriend is a bitch, she abuses Pink, and one day, he finally snaps and "attacks" her. She runs away at the end, and Pink feels sorry he did what he did. At least i think that's what this all means..

At the end of goodbye blue sky, allfloyd.com's lyrics read: "'The 11:15 from Newcastle is now approaching' "The 11:18 arrival....'" Wich means the girlsfriend moved to the US. Then in Young Lust, Pink tries to call her, but a man answers (her new boyfriend) and hangs up. [Phone rings..Clink of receiver being lifted] "Hello..?" "Yes, a collect call for Mrs. Floyd from Mr. Floyd. Will you accept the charges from United States?" [clunk! of phone being put down] "Oh, He hung up! That's your residence, right? I wonder why he hung up? Is there supposed to be someone else there besides your wife there to answer?" [Phone rings again...clunk of receiver being picked up] "Hello?" "This is United States calling, are we reaching... [interrupted by phone being put down] "See he keeps hanging up, and it's a man answering." [whirr of connection being closed]

It's pretty obvious that Pink's being abusive to his wife here. If not physically then mentally. But he says things that make you assume both are going on. Examples: "How could you go/when you know how I need you/to beat to a pulp on a Saturday night" "I need you babe/to put through the shredder/in front of my friends" But throughout, he thinks he's the victim. It's his right to dominate his wife and she shouldn't be leaving him because he's exercising his dominance. He also thinks he's giving enough in return: "Remember the flowers I sent?" The phone call at the end is his wife having moved to England and shacked up with another man. This man has been warned of Pink's antics and the new man doesn't want "Mrs. Floyd" to have anything to do with Pink anymore. I must say, I agree with the new guy's sentiments...

This song is basically about an abusive relationship. The abuser (who takes the form of a male, but lets not be too stuck on genders here) is being left by his significant other, he finds some way to keep this person back, and then abuses them. It goes on like this, until the victim finally runs away. A very well written song making the listener feel as though the protagonist is the victim.
