______________________________________________

Em Dm Em Dm

Em(9)
Hey you! out there in the cold

Bm
Getting lonely, getting old, can you feel me

Em(9)
Hey you! standing in the aisles

Bm
With itchy feet and fading smiles, can you feel me

D D7 G D C
Hey you! don't you help them to bury the light

Bm Am Em Dm
Don't give in without a fight.

Em(9)
Hey you! out there on your own

Bm
Sitting naked by the phone would you touch me

Em(9)
Hey you! with your ear against the wall

Bm
Waiting for someone to call out would you touch me

D D7 G D C
Hey you! would you help me to carry the stone

Bm Am Em
Open your heart, I'm coming home

Am Em Am Em Am Em

C D G D C
But it was only a fantasy

C G D C
The wall was too high, as you can see

C D G D C
No matter how he tried he could not break free

D7 Em Dm Em Dm Em Dm Em Dm
And the worms ate into his brain.

Em(9)
Hey you! out there on the road

Bm
Doing what you're told, can you help me

G Em(9)
Hey you! out there beyond the wall

Bm
Breaking bottles in the hall, can you help me

D D7 G D C
Hey you! don't tell me there's no hope at all

Bm Am Em(9)
Together we stand, divided we fall.

I always thought this song was about the isolation some people feel .... Its like they've cut themselves off from the real world and now they're lonely.

i think its like this, this dude is looking for help but is not doing the best of his ability to get it. he is waiting for an outside force to help him and he is saying "hey you" to all the people on the outside.i can seriously relate to the whole album, and due to expiriences ive built a "wall" of not trusting people, so in my relation, i wouldnt ask for help becuase i didnt trust them. this seems to connect with the song...

Drexial, sorry to say, but you are completely wrong. And his "name" was "Syd." But that was his nickname, I can't remember the real one at the moment, but I know your story is false.

I don't have it. If you can get it to me, I'd be glad to watch it. Otherwise, this song still confuses me...

it just about someone being trapped. and they r telling him not to let them bury his light and dont let his problems bury him. but in the end it just all crashes down

blingincracker, "The Wall" probably is a hair on the overrated side, and I can see where you are coming from. "The Wall" is easily Pink Floyd's most depressing album, and it does get a little tired after a while. But Pink Floyd's entire career will easily out do anything a modern rock band could ever accomplish. Check their earlier work from the 70s. Also does anyone else hear how the instruments between 2:05 and 2:35 seem to say "we don't need no education"?
