| first, don't rip on me because of my name. i heard this album after i became a member of songmeanings and just decided to keep the old name. floyd, zepplin, and u2 r my favorite bands. ok, i haven't seen the movie yet, but this is my take on the album. many people try to shut themselves in from reality, because reality is too painful, or boring. whether its with video games or being politicaly correct, reading or ignorance, everybody does it. we try to put a wall around ourselves and the truth. within this wall anything is possible, you be anyone you want, do anything you dream of, sleep with anybody you want. however, over time, things begin to get distorted. everything becomes more distorted, until you lose your mind and tear down that wall. you realise how the world really is, a place of love and hatred, a place of birth and death. over time, this is accepted. unfortunatly, it is human nature to repeat his mistakes, and the wall is rebuilt again. also, if you know about the big bang, some scientists predict that the universe will come together in a mega black hole called the big crunch. some of these scientists even say that the mega black hole will explode into another big bang, and this will continue into infinity. P.S. has Stephen King ever heard this? i've read 5 of his books and they crept me out the same way as hearing this for the first time did. read The Stand, it so SO F-ING GOOD. (and long)(but its worth it)(even though im only halfway through)(The Talisman is also good, and not as scary as his other books)(man i type too much) | |

| After watching this movie over and over again. I've found that Pink wound up in a mental institution, if you watch the cut version of Hey You, you can see scenes of him undergoing elctro-shock treatment. you can also see this in Another Brick in the Wall part 3. There is also visible accounts of young pink visiting older pink in the insane asylum , passing the straight jacket that laid on the bed, just like Young pink running to old pink sitting in the chair. The whole song represents in my opinion, that when people shut themselves off in the world, there are people who will do anything they can to reach you and make you feel better. the bleeding hearts and the artists are the ones that were deamed "bad" by the high authorities, like the school master. During those days they wanted to make men out the children becuase most of them lost thier fathers in WW2 and they wanted them to grow up strong without being a mother's boy. whoever those people who were deamed bad are the most kind and the ones to help you through almost anything. | |

| I see this song as sort of the final narrative. Pink Floyd's take on it, that as a band they are trying to reach people, but it's hard if they don't want to listen, trapped behind their wall. | |

| It is Waters' exasperation about how he feels about his fans outside his Wall. All this album is about Waters, the character, Pink, is just in the movie and was creaded so Waters didn't have to say this mad character was him. | |

| This song to me is the final depection of pink's(the main character in this story) awakening or revelation. He was into his own world so far that he didnt even realize the people around him looking out for his own good. The "artists" and "bleeding hearts" mentioned numerous times on the album were going through hell trying to reach him and protect him when they could have given up and now he finally sees it. It is a wounderful ending and I believe the "isnt this, where we left off?" refers to the begining of this work of art in 'in the flesh?' where he is a child and still has his inocence. i.e. hes outside the wall. Well tell me what you think, im not saying thats what Roger was thinking but I belive its an insightful opinion and id like to know if anyone agrees with me. | |

| I think you're pretty close if not right on the meaning. But excuse me if I sound stupid, but at the end of this song, and at the beginning of In The Flesh?, something is spoken. What are they saying? | |

| If you play this song on the record, then just as it ends, if you switch to the very first one, the album loops around with the phrase "Isn't this where we came in?" | |

| i like it because the movie is about how he tried to keep the evil out behind his wall, and in the end the evil was right there with him and all the goodness in the world like the bleeding hearts and the artists and the ones who really loved him were outside the whole time. its very ironic and twilight zoney | |

| this is one of floyd's best, and holds a personal meaning to me - the lines "some stagger and fall, after all it's not easy / banging your head against some bugger's / wall" are exactly what i felt like every time i tried to console my long-distance boyfriend (via IM) and talk him out of suicide or convince him that he's not letting me down and that he shouldn't ever think he's not good enough for me or he's not the perfect guy i wanted... i think almost anyone can relate to that; if not BF/GF then just a friend or maybe even a child who thinks he didn't live up to his parents standards but yet they still love him unconditionally... btw, we've been together for 4 months now and still going strong :-) eh well there's my story... Pink Floyd is phenomenal!! very informative site: http://www.pinkfloyd-co.net | |
