| The Rising Sun is the japanese flag, and "all their kids committing suicide" is the kamikaze bombers. | |

| After reading the lyrics, it really helps to see that "what happened to the post-war dream" is in quotation marks, as in that is what the people are shouting and screaming. That really clears things up from a non-logical progression to an insanely good progression. The album as a whole is excellent lyrically, but not so much musically. | |

| Hey guys, I think you're all wrong. I think that's a song from the Falklands Islands Conflict (Islas Malvinas Argentinas). "the yards would still be open on the clyde and it can't be much fun for them beneath the rising sun with all their kids committing suicide" ... "with all their kids committing suicide" ----> I think these "kids" are the Argentinian soldiers who were only kids of 18 years old when they went to this war between Argentina and England. "Maggie, what have we done?" President Galtieri is also guilty... Regards from Argentina! Adios! Keep listening to PF | |

| The whole first side is about Roger Waters' father, Eric Waters, who died in '44 in WW2. Waters is upset because Britain and the rest of the world wasn't upholding "the post-war dream" which was of "A Brave New World" where we would knock down fascists like Hitler. | |
