This song is one of my favorites. I just saw david gilmour in hollywood a couple weeks ago. Gosh his voice is still so amazing. I wished he would have played this but it was still the best thing i have ever seen/heard. I dont know what this song means, nd that is what i love about it, its mysterious. I must agree with the post above that the line "envy is the bond between the hopeful and the damned" is genius. So simple, so beautiful. Want to see them play this in a studio? Its my favorite footage of the Floyd. I couldnt believe this when i found it. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4164425144023949988&q=pink+floyd

Pink Floyd succeeds yet again in showing up stupid, modern, pop love songs. This song, unlike, say, Britney Spears (to choose a random modern "artist") , sounds good, has well written lyrics, has a point, etc. More is an udderated album by Pink Floyd.

This is without a doubt the most gorgeous song I have ever heard. David Gilmour's vocals and the music go hand in hand. It's beautiful.

Whoops, I messed up. This album is underrated (as opposed to udderrated). However, Atom Heart Mother might be considered udderrated.

Is there any specific interpretation of this song? I love it, but I guess I'll have to get the movie to understand it...

My favourite Pink flyd song, SOOOO GOOOOD, I like how it lead into Careful with that Axe, Eugene right after. MY favourite part is when he says "of her kind" cuz i my version of the song he kind of holds out "kind" , he says "Ki-i-ind"

And TenYears Gone, the interpretation of this song is that it is best true, non-satirical love song ever. Pigs on the Wing as a whole (that is, the joint studio version) is probably better. However, this is clearly the most beautiful song that has ever come out a few pieces of wood with strings attached (don't you love my puns) and a human mouth. Even more beautiful than Julia Dream, and that's saying something.

This song was in Pink Floyd's set-list from '69-'72. The live version is more powerful than the original. Just like Cymbaline and A Saucerful Of Secrets!

The six minute version was quite a pleasant surprise. It has nice sound effects, though the lyrics are a bit mumbled.

i keep hearing "moonshine made her blind every time" i think the song is mostly simple, in form and concept it's about gazing through and seeing being young and green romantic jealousy "envy is the bond between the hopeful and the damned" is the line which makes clear the complexity of deception in something that seems so pure

I found a 6 minute version of this song, but I am having trouble ordering it. Get it off of www.allofmp3.com as soon as the site goes back up. It has everything (almost) you could want in terms of Floyd rarities, and it's really cheap (Stop from the Wall costs $0.01, and a 27 minute version of Echoes costs $0.77).

I think the very last line "envy is the bond between the hopeful and the damned" is one of my favorite lines.

One other thing. If you have only heard the version on the More soundtrack, you are missing out. There is the one above, and another.I think it is a BBC recording. WAY BETTER than the album version.

I'm pretty sure at the beginning of a live version from "Interstellar Encore" that he says "the first of which is a song called green is the colour which is about being on the reefer"

In the Fillmore West performance (circulated as Interstellar Encore), Roger introduces the song as "about being on Ibiza."
