One of the reasons they are so great. Everyone can grasp a different meaning out of it.

It's hard for me to pin down precise meanings to Pink Floyd songs. They have an amazing power to just make you feel something that may not fit the lyrics...A lot of the early lyrics make me think of a lying government. A smile for a veil, fraudulence. But personally the later comments remind me of a cold depressing relationship where two people cling to eachother out of lonliness. I could be wrong though.

Hmmm.. i've been sitting here for a while trying to figure out exactly what this song means. Like thisboy, the end of this song does seem as if he's talking about a relationship that's just not working out. But the beginning sounds as if he's asking if you can tell reality from illusion. It's like, these two people are in this relationship together and they're not able to distinguish what's real and what's not. They're trapped in a fishbowl and it seems as if they don't want to know what's reality and; the just want to stay trapped in their little world, which is both comforting and disconcerting at the same time.... Except, my interpretation doesn't make sense with the whole "wish you were here" line.. i don't know how that fits in.

I agree, Gimour's guitar weeps in the solo... Been to Roger Waters show, show was great and all, but this song didnt come out as well as in the album. Wonder if Jeff Beck would made a difference.
