| Zero, that discovery indicates the cyclical nature of the Wall; it perpetuates itself throughout time and through the generations. Everyone else, do not forget that this song serves PRIMARILY as the introduction to the epic story that is "The Wall". He might have had ideas concerning rude audiences in mind; however, those are not the points of the song. I personally think there are two interpretations. One, this song is performed in retrospect by Pink, who is about to tell his story to the audience. Two, this could describe Pink's conception. The title "In the Flesh?" could be taken as such, and (should this meaning be taken) the lyrics serve as life telling Pink that it's going to be a hard life. Life won't be what it seems, and if you really want to enjoy it, you're going to have to "claw" through the "disguises" of innumerable individuals; something Pink will have enormous difficulty with later on. | |

| The "surrogate band" isn't really a different band -- its pink's "alter ego" -- the face he shows people.. the outside of his wall | |

| Yeah, I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one. The nazi scene is somewhat of a dream sequence in the film and is just showing Pink once again creating a wall. He walls himself in by attacking Jews, Gays, Blacks, ect., thus comparing himself to Hitler and the like. | |

| I agree with abrinfgbith but Rodger said in that interviewing that when he bombed the crowd that they would actually be cheering and applauing but its purpose in the movie was to warn a bunch of kids that he will changed and grow to hate some of them but thourgh all that it will just be a disguise, jus what i got from it but i think the wall means something a bit diff to everyone | |

| I dont think its just the drugs that brought on his dark side. The wall that he put up in his mind was torn down after "The Trial" and that kinda left pink with his desolate mind and warps him.And then after they start taking him to the care, that gross skin stuff begins growing on him and once in the care he struggles to get it off.The worm become the cacoon becomes the butterfly or in this case a nazi! :D | |

| Anyone seen the movie? This is the point when Pink becomes the fascist dictator to his fans. Roger Waters based this part partly on how he felt about his attitude toward his fans (for example when he spat on that poor guy during the acoustic song). I like the first In The Flesh? better. The first track on Part One I mean. It is more full and not live. | |

| the man in this song is attempting to prove to his "audience" that his first impression may seem alarming, but before making judgements, he wants the people to explore what molded him into what he is. | |

| The song is not racist, but for a different reason than mentioned above. He does not include every race/people: -white, christians, where are they. However, the song is not racist because it is attacking those who are racist (which just happen to be white christians in the U.S. and Britain, and other mostly Caucasian areas). | |

| In the movie The Wall, everything after Comfortably Numb is a dream sequence, made by Pink as he's in an insane asylum, this includes "In the Flesh","Waiting for the Worms" & "The Trial" In Comfortably Numb, it shows Pink being taken out of his room as he slowely starts to decay and shed his flesh. At the end of the song he completely rips off all his skin to reveal a nazi-like dictator Pink. Thus revealing his true self. In The Flesh, is an anti-everything rally that Pink makes up in his head, showing how he hates everything in the world. Waiting for the Worms is Pink acting out on his anger towards the world, as shown in the movie, him and his followers raid the city and destroy everything. ("Run Like Hell") The Trial, is Pink's final judgment, as a cartoon hullucination in the movie, is his own mind turning against itself, realising what he did (building the wall) was unfair to his wife and mother and sentences himself to tear down the wall. "Since my friend, you have revealed your deepest fear, I sentence you to be exposed before your peers! Tear down the wall!" All these songs fit into one another and you cant figure one out without the other. | |

| Okay, ive read all of these explenations and they are all good. But if you may , or may not know, this is also a very drug influenced movie. The one that influenced it most would be LSD. Rodger Waters did a lot of LSD and so have i. Most people do not understand the way LSD makes you think "outside the box". When i say this, i mean you think of everything and considering rodger waters story "The Wall" started off in WWII with his father dying, racism, genocide and many other thought provoking things occured. This greatly affeted the way 'Pink' thought about society. He only saw it for what he knew and had to learn by mostly himself considering his father was killed and his mother was very protecting. He only saw the bad things about the world and when he started doing drugs, everything started making sense in his head. If you will note the part of the movie where comfortably numb plays, Pink is in his hotel room and he is drained and is resenting the fact that he has to play a show, but well, as noted before in previous comments, he was under the influnce of lots of LSD and possible many other drugs. They wake him up from his chair while he is overdosing and well, he is tripping on lots of LSD. They continue to drag him to the show where he is hallucinating violently and sees that his skin is melting and i belive what it means by his skin melting is that he is kind of 'shedding' the personality of Pink and as you see in the car on the way to the show, he tears all the skin off of his face, revealing the persona of this Hitler like dictator. This hitler character is a neo-nazi and i belive this persona is derviced from the fact that he grew up without any other knowledge besides the fact that there was the genocide and WWII and he did not have a father, so he saw these everyday dictators and someone to tell him what to do and how to act in society considering his mother sheltered him and he did not have a father. Well, i just wanted to explain something , in my opinion of a fellow LSD user. People may find this look at The Wall as wrong but i believe this is SOMEWHAT was intended by Rodger Waters. And sorry if a lot of this doesnt make sense. I just kind of ramble. :) I await your feedback. | |
