| to whom it may concern. if any of you actually consider recomending people you dont even know to take DXM then you have problems. morning glory may give you nausea and headaches..but DXM definitley has worse side effects plus is nowhere near being a psychedelic drug such as mushrooms or acid. stay away from the designer drugs. peace | |

| 1) Dextromethorphan (DXM) is a powerful drug that most people should not take for reasons that they either cannot handle it (physically or psychologically) or will not enjoy it. It's a niche drug. 2) DXM can (can as in not necessairly) cause worse side effects than morning glory seeds but if you do your research and are responsible these risks and side effects can be minimized or eliminated. 3) DXM is a psychedelic in a way. Using it can produce psychedelic experiences and it is hallucinogenic. Though it's effects are different from more well known drugs like shrooms. | No no. The true meaning of the song is about one of the scientists who tested LSD in the 1930's. In his log, he wrote how his assitant had to calm him down because he believed he was posessed by the devil and thought his neighbor was a witch and that everyone was trying to kill him. Then once his assistant calmed him down, his "bad trip" ceased and he had a positive experience and saw geometric shapes when he closed his eyes and heard strange sounds. When he awoke the next morning, he wrote in his log that the world seemed as if it was newly created and that his breakfast was so extraordinary and pleasurable. That is what i believe the song is about :-) | |

| Morning Glory seeds DO NOT resemble LSD. Well the active ingredient, Ergine(LSA) does but the seeds also contain other ingredients that cause quite alot of nausea and headaches. Supressing those effects and extractions to remove those chemicals never worked for me so I dont recommend morning glory as a legal high. Once you get past those headaches and nausea(or arelucky not to get them), LSA not as good as LSD. It's like comparing ephedrine to methamphetamine. For any of you kiddies out there looking to get tripping on psychedelics but dont have any access to illegal drugs. You are much better off trying DXM than wasting your time with morning glory seeds. | |

| haha i was at a hebrew immersion camp the summer i turned 15 and one of my israeli counselors and i traded grateful dead and pink floyd cd's. one of the ones he lent me was atom heart mother . . . the song is great, but my strongest association is how funny "psychadelic breakfast" sounds in a heavy israeli accent . . . tripped out song. | |

| I've distilled the LSA out of Morning Glory quite efficiently in my friend's dorm room, but before that, I took about 50 seeds (not enough to hallucinate) and it did make me nauseous. It also kept me up all night writing and going on an adventure, so it was an overall good experience. However, I reccommend distilling it. Or, just dropping some good ole' LSD. Also, don't buy the seeds in stores! They have pesticides that make you extremely sick. Grow your own, perfectly legal, nice garden plant. And, yeah, DXM's alright, but I don't think it's worth the high fever and constant itchiness I got. I did Morning Glory and had breakfast in LA, and then I found this song a few months later. It's all about the Glory. | |

| Except for the fact that the members of Pink Floyd were hardly drug users. I'm pretty sure Gilmour admitted to using bud once, and Wright admitted to using acid twice, but Pink Floyd, contrary to popular belief, was NOT heavily drug influenced. | |

| i dont know what the hell a phycobillian is... but morning glory, or "ipomoea violacea" (more specifically the 'heavenly blue', 'pearly 'gates', or 'flying saucers' strains) contain a natural tryptamine - Lysergic Acid Amide (LSA)... closely resembling LSD. | |

If you refer to Olneys Lesions, William White has retracted his sensationalist paper on the subject. http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/dxm/dxm_health3.shtml DXM may be a lunique and powerful drug but I think it's one that most people would do good to avoid.
