Pink Floyd - High Hopes (solo).
(tabbed by Damian Campa)
The greatest part of one of the greatest Pink Floyd's songs.
It's played an upper octave from the one on your guitar so you
can handle it by using a "+1 octave" effect from your processor.
Enjoy it ;)

| "Life left me green and dying, though I sang in my chains like the sea" (Dylan Thomas) - another great lyric about the slow realization of the loss of gilded youth. | |

| It's a beautiful song. One that I often catch myself listening to, and it reminds me of when I was about five or so, when I saw the video on MTV. I agree with Bourko's comment. I feel that this song does talk about growing up, and the beauty of what the past was to us as opposed to now. And when it comes to the winter of our lives, we may look back and recall about how wonderful our lives were to us. | |

| This song is about growing older, and never quite being at peace with your place in the world. About how you're never able to achieve all your desires and ambitions, and how as a kid you somehow envisaged your life being better than how it turned out to be. Even the things that turn out right are never what you expect them to be. One of many Floyd songs that refer to the loss of childhood innocence, and life never being as much fun as an adult as it was as a kid. I think the lyrics do deliberately parallel the Floyd's career ('the dizzy heights of that dreamed of world' is the superstardom which was thrust upon them after the runaway success of 'Dark Side Of The Moon'), but I think the song as a whole is much broader than that. Either way, this is probably my favourite Pink Floyd song. | |

| This song means very little at all. It was written by Gilmour and his girlfriend, and, in my opinon, is a cheap attempt to mimic the lyrics of earlier Pink Floyd. Don't let that discourage you, however, musically, it is a good song. All that I'm saying is that analysing the lyrics is probably a waste of time. | |

| everytime i hear this song its makes me think about growing up and everyone who comes and goes, i believe we all meet up in the end and hopefully its where the grass was greener The light was brighter The taste was sweeter The nights of wonder With friends surrounded The dawn mist glowing The water flowing The endless river Forever and ever | |

| this is the deepest peace of music pink floyd has ever recorded. I have no idea what it means but it doesn't matter to me. this song is great even without knowing what it means | |

| many valid points...i believe this song is about growing up and growing past things...like from their height of their fame to constant fighting amongst them...this song, and the whole album, is the story of pink floyd...another album would be great, but i dont think it would have the impact of this album....i also believe it would EXTREMELY difficult to top this one...it'd be next to impossible...this and animals are my favorite albums from them..... | |
