Pink Floyd - San Tropez (Waters)
D7
Gmaj7
As I reach for a peach
Gm6
Slide a line down behind a sofa in Saz Tropez
Gmaj7
Breaking a stick with a brick on the sand
Gm6
Riding a wave in the wake of an old sedan
G7
Sleeping alone in the drone of the darkness
A7
Scratched by the sand that fell from my love
C7
Deep in my dreams and I still hear her calling
D
If you're alone, I'll come home
Gmaj7
Backward and homebound, the pigeon, the dove
Gm6
Gone with the wind and the rain on an airplane
Gmaj7
Born in a home with no silver spoon
Gm6
I'm drinking champagne like a good tycoon
G7
Sooner than wait for a break in the weather
A7
I'll gather my far flung thoughts together
C7
Speeding away on a wind to a new day
D
If you're alone, I'll come home
Gmaj7
And I'll pause for a while by a country stile
Gm6
And listen to the things they say
Gmaj7
Digging for gold in a hole in my hand
Gm6
Open the book, take a look at the way things stand
G7
And you're leading me down to the place by the sea
A7
I hear you soft voice calling to me
C7
Making a date for later by phone
D
And if you're alone, I'll come home
Gmaj7 Gm6

| Those lyrics are WAY off. Here are the correct lyrics: As I reach for a peach Slide a rind down behind The sofa in San Tropez. Breakin' a stick with a brick on the sand. Ridin' a wave In the wake of an old sedan. Sleepin' alone in the Drone of the darkness, Scratched by the sand that Fell from my love, Deep in my dreams and I Still hear her callin' "If you're alone, I'll come home." Backward and homebound, The pigeon, the dove, Gone with the wind And the rain, on an airplane. Owning a home With no silver spoon, I'm drinking champagne Like a good tycoon. Sooner than wait for A break in the weather, I'll gather my far-flung Thoughts together. Speeding away On the wind to a new day. And if you're alone I'll come home. And I pause for a while By a country style And listen to the things they say. Diggin' for gold With a hoe in my hand. Open a book Take a look at the way things stand. And you're leading me down To the place by the sea. I hear your soft voice Calling to me. Making a date for Later by phone And if you're alone I'll come home. | |

| If I had to make a top ten list of songs that are just plain fun (not funny, fun), this song would be first. I can't think of anything else to go on the list, if that says anything about how much more fun this song is than any others I know. And Pink Floyd succeeds once again in showing up sappy, poppish, modern love songs. | |

| supposedly, syd barrett first experimented with lsd in san tropez and this is why they wrote about it. Also, i think i remember an article in playboy that discussed the best places to get fucked up in europe and it said san tropez was the best place to trip... so there ya go syd was on to it... and what an appropriate name. syd. | |

| This is just a fun song, that's all. It has no true meaning, but I guess it's a love song, making it one of the best I know. A poem: Called: Childhood's End Put into the blazing spotlight with the power to set things right you quietly slipped out of sight trying desperately to pretend that you had reached Childhood's End | |

| very easy goin song.. much lighter than the rest of their collection in my opinion. i think the basic gist of the song is just about enjoying the warmth and the company of the one you love and forgetting everything else, just paying attention to the moment free from worry or care | |

| Man this song is so awesome, I loved it since the very first time I heard it. Has to be one of the most underrated songs ever. Certainly a fun summer song like everyone else has mentioned, the lyrics are a little out there but they add to the fun factor. I love the way he says "I'm drinkin' champagne like a good tycoon" you can almost hear him smiling. | |

| I love this song even though it's a bit lighter and has a jazzy feel unlike most PF songs. I also like how Waters uses his voice. This song doesn't really have any deep meaning to me, but just reminds me of summer, and it's great to listen to while lazing on the sand. | |

| The music to this song is interesting, too. It's almost entirely G-based chords. Gmaj7, Gmin6, G7. There's also some A7, C7, D and D7 in there. Aside from the D in the last lind of each verse, there are no regular chords. I just thought that was interesting if you're into that kind of thing (and assuming my music theory is right, which it might not be). I love the piano solo at the end. | |

I took my mp3 player to the beach this summer and i listened to this song their, it takes the song to a new place when you listen to it in that kind of enviorment....which i love :) Its so sweet, its nothing that would be expected from Pink Floyd, in the post syd era... well, i dont think. Anyways, great tune, love it :) | |
