Pink Floyd - The Nile Song (Waters)
A G A G A G F#
B A B A
I was standing by the Nile when I saw the lady smile.

I would take her out for a while, for a while.

Light tears wept like child.

How her golden hair was blowing wild.
C# B Bb
Then she spread her wings to fly, for to fly.
Eb Db Eb Db
Soaring high above the breezes, going always where she pleases.

She will make it to the island in the sun.

I will follow in her shadow as I watch her from my window.

One day I will catch her eye__.

B A B A
She is calling from the deep, summoning my soul to endless sleep.
B A G#
She is bound to drag me down, drag me down.

| Drag me down is an expression that means lead to ruin. He is chasing after this woman, and she is going to cause his ruin. CrimsonanClover has summed up why this song is the best heavy metal song by far (the only good one, in fact, except for Ibiza Bar). I guess most heavy metalists are too busy being loud to write good lyrics. Of course, you usually can't make out anything other than screaming in the songs anyway, so why bother writing lyrics at all, let alone good ones. Despite how I hate heavy metal, I still like this song, for many of the same reasons that I like Seamus. | |

| Superb song! And the fact that this type of song was performed in 1969 is brilliant. They were way ahead of their time on this one. It also shows that Pink Floyd could have taken on different types of music and still be successful with it. | |

| It would be intresting to know what would of happened if Pink Floyd mixed this loud and dramatic sound in The Nile Song with their other music. Would Floyd be considered a legendary heavy metal band too? | |

| inpraiseoffolly, you're a small minded idiot. In fact, idiotic doesn't even begin to describe what you just said about heavy metal. Um, that's all. | |

| Hey guys. This is from a concept album. It is about a man who encounters a woman who is destroying her life with drugs and is trying to bring down a man with her. It was made for the underground movie "More", hence the title of the album. Also in a biblical sense a woman luring man into certain destruction with her sinful delights. "Endless sleep" = death. She is calling from the deep = "hell". This song goes to show that there are certain women(harlots) you shouldn't mess around with. All in all to avoid the temptation of this sorta woman. | |

| I agree with impraiseoffolly metal sucks ass but i do like how this song is all hard and heavy. Pink Floyd was always ahead of their time. The heavy sound fits with what the song is saying. How are you going to talk about this girl like that without screeming? | |
