Hi,

Here's another PJ Harvey tab, as compiled by Sean:

Rid of Me (from the album Rid of Me)

The chords are A, F and G, and it's really easy apart from the timing of the
opening bit, which goes:

1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 +
A A . A A A . A . A . A A A . A

(Hint: play them all with down strokes, and hit the strings in a steady, eighth
note pulse. Use your left hand to sound the chords, ie: fret the chord on the
parts where the chord sounds, mute the strings on all the rest (the `.' bits).

So...

A (the riff above)
Tie yourself to me and no one else yeah,

F A F A
You're not rid of me Yeah, you're not rid of me

A
Night and day I breathe Ho-hot Ai-air

F A F A
You're not rid of me Yeah, you're not rid of me

F A F A
Yeah, you're not rid of me Yeah, you're not rid of me

G A F A G A F A
I beg you My darling Don't leave me I'm hurting

A
(the falsetto bit:) Lick my legs, I'm on fire, lick my legs, of desire

A
I'll tie your legs, keep you against my chest

F A F A
Yeah, you're not rid of me Yeah, you're not rid of me

A F F A
I'll make you lick my injuries I'm gonna twist your head off centre

A
'Till you say:

F A
Don't you wish that you'd never-never met her, don't you -

F A
Don't you wish that you'd never-never met her, don't you -

F A
Don't you wish that you'd never-never met her, don't you -

F A
Don't you wish that you'd never-never met her, I

G A F A G A F A
Beg you My darling Don't leave me I'm hurting Be

G A F A G A F A
Lonely Above everything But every day I'm hurting

A
(falsetto bit:) Lick my legs I'm on fire, Lick my legs of desire

F A F A
You're not rid of me Yeah, you're not rid of me

F A F A
I'll make you kiss my angle face I'm gonna turn your head off centre

A
'Till you say:

F A
Don't you wish that you'd never-never met her, don't you -

F A
Don't you wish that you'd never_never met her, don't you -

And so on... (the falsetto bit comes back in after 2 or so repeates, under the
`Don't you' bits, repeat 'till you're blue inna face)

Enjoy...

Tara,
Sean

oh video idea. some couple's long broken up, but when they see each other they break out into violent outbursts, even in public.

What makes this song so profoundly affecting is the almost contradictory parts its made of: the fragile, weak, lonely, pleading up against the possesive, sadistic, torturous and violent. The gap is briged by PJs amaaaaazing vocal performance, she succeds in making this song as psychologicaly complex and disarming as it is. I think that most men that comit abuses to their couples act this way... It's a perfect song. Never get tired of it. So black, so desperate, so true.

i fucking love this song. this guy's trying to get rid of her, but she's not gonna let him walk away that easily. i love the angry, desperate way she screams "lick my legs of desire/lick my legs, i'm on fire!" amazing.

"I think it's Robert Ellis who sings the "Lick my legs"-part." Um...no...that would be PJ Harvey.

This is about a relationship where one person has had enough but the other person still loves them and wants them.

who sings the "lick my legs..." part. it's pretty interesting, 'specially at the end, where it sounds more like a demand.

i think it's really more about possession rather than actual love.
