| There was a figure that was around the glam era of the 80's, went by the name of Trojan and died of drugs. Boy george mentions Trojan in the autobiography Take It Like A Man... | |

| This song reminds me of my best friend who is really going to fuck up her life if she doesn't stop what she's doing. Also the boy I love, but he turned around, thank god. | |

| Hmmm i always thought the song was about the self destructiveness of the steryotypical gay male clubber lifestyle. Hence the choking trojan and drug references. | |

| "Sleep may be the enemy" This line to me makes me think that its not Brian telling someone to get their act together but someone telling Brian too. This is mainly because I read in an interview that Brian hates to sleep because when his asleep, he can't stop the truthful thoughts he has. This line got me thinking the song is about him, getting bollocked and havnig to get his act together. | |

| to me brian is showing how people can get involved in thinks that are wrong or dangerous with out realising how it will effect them , thats why they uses happy music, its almost showing how people can get this false image that it is all merry when realy its not. | |

| While he was praying on the mountain of Verna, together with his close friend Thomas, St. Francis received the Stigmata on 17 September 1223. Suddenly he saw a vision of an angel on a cross. This angel bore holes into St. Francis's feet, hands, and chest. This is the first account of Stigmata in history. However, no one knew about this occurrence until after his death, when Thomas told a crowd of Franciscans that he had witnessed this account. | |

| In the word's of the great Brian Molko: "That's a song about grabbing your mate by the scruff of the neck and telling him that he's walking down a rocky road to ruin. It's basically, "You're my mate and I love you, but if you don't watch out you're going to fuck up pretty bad." It's autobiographical in the sense that there have been certain points in my life where the band or other friends have had to do that to me. Which was very beneficial. I love that song because musically it's like a really sweet lullaby and lyrically it's quite a filthy number. It puts a smile on your face." "Levi's our sound man. There was this one time in Milan when I got a bit too drunk at dinner and left the restaurant which was right opposite the venue and there were some fans waiting outside, and I climbed on top of this Fiat Uno, and started screaming 'Nancy Boy', doing a performance for the fans. And Levi dragged me off the Fiat Uno, as the owner was approaching and waving the keys. I thought I was going to cross this road in between the two parked tour buses and took off, and Levi just grabbed me as a car zoomed by. So it's quite possible that he did save my life. If I was a Samurai, I would have to follow him around for the rest of my life and take care of him until I saved his life. But my little payback for that is to put his name in a song." | |

| Don't read into this too deep; Risky's quote pretty much sums it up. Brian says it's about warning a friend and being saved himself, so that's what it's about. BDSM references and so on are inconsequential to that central meaning. | |

| I like this song because if you listen to the lyrics their serious and like the refernces to golden showers and beasiality are kinda filthy (in my opinion), but the music is quite happy and u know the bit in the background at certain points of the song (sorry that was vague, dnt kno how to describe it but you all know what im talking about) makes it sound almost like a christmas song. so its quite strange really. | |

| I don't know if it's just me, but it seems it has SM written all over it. *['The dream that comes alive at night..'] SM night clubs and stuff. You could say, that it's a dream because in the eyes of many people, it's not normal. But to that someone that twisted dream can come alive at night. *['Showers golden..'] Golden shower is a thing SM mistresses do to their slaves. *['You're the one who's always bruised and broken..'] As if the song was to someone who likes being submissive in SM sex. Gets beaten up by his mistress. *['Drunk on immorality..'] SM sex is immoral to most people. But then again my point of view doesn't go together with what someone quoted Brian saying. So I wouldn't know what this song actually is about. But SM is what it has always seemed to me. Maybe I'm just wicked twisted. [a] | |

| WOW I just discovered this song and you know what makes me like it even more- it's like Song to say goodbye is the sequel of it - because it has the same thematic - so it's like Commercial for Levi is about making the friend quit and then Song to say goodbye is about almost giving up... Amazing. Both songs are great. GREAT! | |

| Yeah I think its like about some dude that is like destroying his life with drugs and all that shit but the other guy cares about his druggie friend and wants him to change because he has been down that road once and that road was not the most pleasant road to take. | |
