Placebo-Drink You Pretty (Bitter End B-Side)
tabbed by Zoe Jackson (exploding_fish@hotmail.com)
the song has a few guitars and also a paino/keyboard which makes it hard to work out properly.
but ive worked out a tab which is how i play it myself (its not totally accurate to the song,
but some is close). hope someone can put up a better version at some point.
ive done it in tuning G, Bb, Eb, Ab, C, C ..not exact placebo tuning cuz this was easier
to play it.
intro and verses (there are 3 main riffs, listen to the track to work it out)
riff type 1
C --------------------------------------------------
C --------------------------------------------------
Ab --------------------------------------------------
Eb --2--------------2----------------2---------------
Bb ------3---------------3---------------------3-----
G -----------3-----------------3--------------------
C -----------------------------------------------
C -----------------------------------------------
Ab -----------------------------------------------
Eb -----5------------------5----------------------
Bb -------------3-----------------3--------------3
G ------------------3-----------------3----------
C -------------------------------------------------
C -------------------------------------------------
Ab -------------------------------------------------
Eb --2--------------2----------------0---------2----
Bb ------3---------------3--------------------------
G -----------3-----------------3-------------------
riff type 2
C --------------------------------------------------
C --------------------------------------------------
Ab --------------------------------------------------
Eb --2--------------2----------------2---------------
Bb ------3---------------3---------------------3-----
G -----------3-----------------3--------------------
C ------------------------------------------------
C ------------------------------------------------
Ab ------------------------------------------------
Eb -----5------------------5-----------------------
Bb -------------3-----------------3--------------3-
G -------------------3-----------------3----------
C -------------------------------------------------
C -------------------------------------------------
Ab -------------------------------------------------
Eb --2--------------2----------------0--------------
Bb ------3---------------3---------------------3----
G -----------3-----------------3-------------------
riff type 3
C --------------------------------------------------
C --------------------------------------------------
Ab --------------------------------------------------
Eb --2--------------2----------------2---------------
Bb ------3---------------3---------------------3-----
G -----------3-----------------3-------------------- x 2
C -----------------------------------------------
C -----------------------------------------------
Ab -----------------------------------------------
Eb -----------------------------------------------
Bb ----3---------------3----------------2---------
G -----------3----3--------3-----3------------3--
chorus
C --------5---------------5---------------
C -------------3----------------3---------
Ab ---4---------------4---------------4------ ---9---
Eb ------------------------------------------ ---9---
Bb ------------------------------------------ ---7--
G ------------------------------------------ a few times then ------
C -----------------------------
C --3-------------3------------
Ab -------0---0--------0---0------ --2--
Eb ------------------------------- --2--
Bb ------------------------------- --0--
G ------------------------------- a few times then ---0--
or you could just play 3 chords through the chorus
C -----------------------
C -----------------------
Ab --7---9----7-----------
Eb --7---9----7----5------
Bb --5---7----5----5------
G ------------------3---
then its the verse riffs again. but the next verse is hard for me to tab, you can play like
the 1st verse or there is what seems like another guitar playing
C --5--5---5--8---8--6---5---5-----3-----5----
and
C --5--5---5--5---5---5---1--1---0------
Ab -----------------------------------2--
the bit that goes ‘hello pretty‘..
seems to be like these 2 chords
C ----------------------
C ----------------------
Ab --7-----------2-------
Eb --7-----------2-------
Bb --5-----------0-------
G ----------------------
with another guitar over the top playing
C --3--3--3--3--6--6--3--3--3--3--6--6--6--5--5--5--6--6--6--5--5--5--
C --3--3--3--3--6--6--3--3--3--3--6--6--6--5--5--5--6--6--6--5--5--5--
C --3--3--3--3--1--1--3--3--3--3--6--6--6--5--5--5--6--6--6--5--5--5--
C --3--3--3--3--1--1--3--3--3--3--6--6--6--5--5--5--6--6--6--5--5--5--

| Placebo have some of the most fantatsic b-sides although drink you pretty along with slackerbitch are by far the best =D I adore this song, I love the tone of it. One of their best kept secrets | |

| I didn't mean the plane thing connecting it to 9/11 i meant that i think its about the mass hysteria after 9/11. because everyone's like 'aaah! oh no!' when its really just more of the same. and the whole song is about, 'fuck this, it's just more of the same' | |

| PLEASE tell me it's an accident no one has commented on this song. I would definately have to say it's one of Placebo's B.E.S.T. The tone, the lyrics, everything. It's amazing and the meaning is pretty in your face. | |

| I don't think this song is about 9/11 either, i think AFInside has the right idea. It also says "Jumbos crash into the ground" not buildings. | |

| I don't think this song has anything to do with 9/11! Why is it that if anyone reads something that has anything to do with planes crashing they instantly think it's about 9/11? Planes crashed before then you know, and they'll continue crashing after too...it's just a fact of life (and gravity!) | |

| I think this song is about how he has a loathing towards the world and his lifestyle he just decides to drink it all away. Drink it so it's pretty and not horrible and ugly. I have doubts it's about 9/11, one reason being he lives in Britain. I also think it's about hating all the people that can just shrug it all off like the government, second verse. How they make horrible choices and decisions but they don't care and he thinks they ought to wake up and see what they're doing to the world and their countries. I actually think it's about hating today's society mostly. | |

| I think in this song Brian is singing about his distaste for the world - the world and all it's ugliness, all the things wrong with it...but he first verse and such make me think of life on the road "every city looks the same" and how it's hard to find a meaningful relationship. But that's just my opinion, I could be far from the truth :P. | |

| I agree with slackerbitch's comment. And yes, it should be more than a b-side. | |
