| I have to agree with bathroomsugery, but I also think the whole "blind" meaning is being left out. "please don't drive me blind" 2 things, either talking about have his/her partner leaving him for someone else and just driving him into a blind corner, him not knowing about his parnters side relationship until he finds out on his own, leaving him feeling blind to the whole situation. Or it could mean "don't drive me blind" meaning don't make me kill myself, but my opinion is leaning towards the first one. | |

| I think this song is about a partner thats destroying themself through drugs, self harm etc. Hes begging them not to leave but sounds like hes knows his efforts are pointless and hes kinda given up. Its a great song and very emotional.loveit! | |

| I think that this song is about a breakup, and longing for what could've been, or how things "should" be. In the first verse, I think Molko is explaining that this person is hard to persuade or convince. If he could somehow get to them (i.e. tear from the ceiling) he would be able to more rationally explain things to him/her or convince them that he is still the same person they originally came to know and love. (i.e. "Remain your funny valentine.") The second verse, he sings that he would like to be able to explain to this person that without him, their life would have no meaning as his currently does. Basically saying that they were meant for each other. More dramatically so, their relationship would give their life meaning, a reason to live. (i.e. "I'd fill your every breath with meaning.) He would also like to find someplace where they won't be bothered or swayed by others or the world, and they can peacefully remain happy just the two of them. (i.e. "And find a place we both can hide.") In the third verse, he is saying that if he could have things his way, he would perfect it to that of their relationship/good times in the past and "freeze it", so he will always have it. (i.e. "I’d freeze us both in time") He would do things differently this time (i.e. "I'd find a new way of seeing.") If he could have it his way, this person would be once again madly in love with him, and he would acknowledge it this time, as he would have it no other way. (i.e. "Your eyes forever glued to mine.") During the chorus, Molko is begging the person on the other end not to force him to realize that he/she won't be coming back. He will feel "blind" in both the sense that he won't be able to look at anyone or feel the same way again, and would also be lost and without a sense of direction or meaning to his life. (i.e. "Don't go and leave me, and please don't drive me blind.") At the end, he acknowledges that he is aware that he is the culprit behind the decay of their relationship, still he reminds hopeful that he will be able to convince this person that things can be the way they used to be once again. (i.e. "I know I broke it.) Very nice song. And that's my interpretation. | |

| I believe that the whole "tear you from the ceiling" part means perhaps that whoever he's talking about is a good person like angelic almost and he wants to bring her down to his level. "please don't drive me blind" could also mean that her light could blind him. "I know we're broken/I know I broke it" could mean that at the end of whatever they had he had broken the both of them. Then again the whole Idea sounds kinda silly probably has more to do with drugs than anything else. | |

| "If I could tear you from the ceiling, And guarantee a source divine, Rid you off possessions fleeting, Remain your funny valentine." He wants to bring this person down to earth so he can give them something more then their material possessions, he wants to rid them of their materialistic nature, even if he has to do it with this person thinking he is just their ‘funny valentine’ "If I could tear you from the ceiling I know the best have tried I'd fill your every breath with meaning And find the place we both could hide" He knows it will be difficult to bring this person down to earth but if he could he’d teach them to feel/think and be truthful to themselves and others and not censored as they are because of their materialistic way of life. After this he promises to stay by this person and protect them. “You don't believe me, but you do this every time” This person doesn’t believe that they are materialistic and the person doesn’t realise they’ve hurt so many people because of the way they treat/manipulate people. “I know we're broken” Their friendship is deteriorating and they both realise that the relationship is ’broken’. “If I could tear you from the ceiling, I'd freeze us both in time, Find a brand new way of seeing.. Your eyes forever glued to mine.” If he could stop everything for a moment and make this person see things from his perspective .Or in accordance with the metaphor make them can see this problem/situation all through his eyes ‘your eyes forever glued to mine’. “Don't go and leave me, And please don't drive me blind” He doesn’t want the person to go because if they do he will be left with nowhere to go and not know what direction to go in so he’ll be ‘blind’ in a sense. But he doesn’t want to keep following this person because they’ll manipulate him and make him ‘blind’ because his views on everything will be glossed over by this persons selfish lifestyle. So it’s a lose-lose situation. “I know I broke it” He is the one that made this friendship break, because he spoke up and told this person what they really were and they couldn’t handle it ... well thats how i see it. comments? | |

| I love this song soooo much. I can relate to it, especially during this time in my life. Anyways, I think it's saying, how this guy loves this girl so much and he's asking her to not leave him cause without her, he'd be a wreck. They have problems and maybe she's thinking of leaving him cause she can't deal with it anymore but he's hoping that she'll stay with him and they can work it out. He also wishes that he was the only one in the world that she's in love with and she'll forever be in love with him. (Your eyes forever glued to mine) | |

| I agree with the meaning of a broken relation and that the person Brian is singing about can't let go his/her lover.. It think you can see it in the chorus after the line of: Your eyes are forever glued to mine.. so when the lover will go away his eyes will leave him.. Please don't drive me blind.. maybe it's also a line to commit suicide.. when the person is blind he/she don't know what he's doing.. It's a guess.. But one thing I sure about.. It's the greatest song | |

| My point of view, and a fiction. There is a boy and a girl. They fall in love, everything seems to be okay, but the boy sometimes uses drugs, and because of him the girl tries some of them. The boy realises, that he's made a mistake and give up the drugs. He tries to convice his girlfriend too to give up, but she becomes a dope-fiend. She use harder and harder stuffs, and then she gets into a hospital. She is in coma. And the song is the boy's monologue. "If I could tear you from the ceiling" - if I could wake you up from the coma "And guarantee source divine" - and give you power to give up drugs "Rid you of possessions fleeting" - take away the drugs "Remain your funny valentine" - be the guy whom you loved on the first days "Don’t go and leave me And please don’t drive me blind Don’t go and leave me And please drive me blind" - Please don't die and don't leave me alone, in blindness, beacase you are the light in my life "If I could tear you from the ceiling" - if I could wake you up from the coma "I know the best have tried" - i've tried so hard to convince you of give up using drugs "I'd fill your every breath with meaning" - I'd be your man, the new sense of your life instead of drugs "And find the place we both could hide" - start a new, clean relationship somewhere "You don’t believe me" - you don't wake up "But you do this every time" - but you never do what I tell (exept one occasion) "Please don’t drive me blind Please don’t drive me blind" "I know you're broken I know you're broken I know you're broken" - I know you are sick and ill and weak now "If I could tear you from the ceiling I’d freeze us both in time" - I'd stop the time and be with you forever if I could wake you up "And find a brand new way of seeing" - and I'd change your mind about life "Your eyes forever glued to mine." - You are the one, I'll love you forever "Don’t go and leave me And please don’t drive me blind Don’t go and leave me And please drive me blind Please don’t drive me blind Please don’t drive me blind Please don’t drive me blind Please don’t drive me blind" "I know I broke it I know I broke it I know I broke it" - I know I made a mistake when I first give you drugs, and I'm the one to blame. Just wake up, forgive me, and let's start a new life. Sorry for the mistakes, but my English pretty bad... :) | |

| i thought it was more about a break up. "i know were broken" suggests that they were together. "i kno w i broke it" suggests that he broke them up or rather his actions drove his partner to leave.so it seems to me to be sayiing "i love you i know you loved me once and i know i hurt you but please dont leave me i can make it work......make it up to you" i have to agree that it is an awsome song | |

| this song gave me an impression of around the whole lost love subject, but different than you guys are saying. personally, this song leads me to think this is about someone losing their lover over a drug problem and blaming themselves for it. "If I could tear you from the ceiling I know the best have tried" i really think that implies the lover is high on something and her/his partner is trying to get them to quit whatever it is, but it is obviously a lost effort. by the end, i get the idea that her/his lover has left and they are blaming themselves, thinking it was their fault for not halping this addiction further. | |

| I agree with Gremlin666 The line 'If I could tear you from the ceiling' to me suggests drug abuse or a dependancy on substances. Molko's character seems to be wanting to stop his partner from the dependancy, and protecting them from its effects. The line 'you dont believe me, but you do this everytime' could suggest the effect a relapse in their recovery has on both him and the relationship with this person. He seems to be almost begging them to come down and promise to stay down, if only for his sake | |

| I guess I'm also an idiot because I came to the same conclusion as Turbovolver. Why wouldn't Placebo make a song about masturbation? Do you think this idea unlikely because it's such a sad and serious song? If so then try listening to "First Orgasm" by The Dresden Dolls. Masturbation is a sad and lonely thing, just like these songs. | |

| I had a look and didn't see anybody mention it: With Placebo's often highly sex-conscious lyrics, did the "blind" connection not stick out to anybody else? "Don't drive me blind" is likely referring to the myth that masturbating makes you blind, and if the relationship is gone then he will be "driven blind" by the lack of sex. | |
