I think it is, it's quite simple, you just have to pay atention to the song for makin' the changes.

| placebo is one of my favorite bands, brian is a lyrical genius. i think this song is sort of saying that theres not much that time left and that in that time there will be good as well as bad. its like he's looking warily forward to the future. | |

| Maybe the hat is death or life. I think it is about time to come, you don't know what time will bring to you: "There are twenty years to go, And many friends I’d hope. Though some may hold the rose, some hold the rope." In your life to come you will meet friends and some friends will be good, some will be bad. (maybe it isn't even literal..) "There are twenty years to go, The punch-drunk and the blow, The worst of starts; the mercy part; the phone." I think this line is about Bryan who's been threatened by a person who called himself 'evil dildo' over the phone (there you've got the song). And that was the mercy part the part where Bryan didn't got killed or something but was 'saved'. The medicine show is drugs. Concentrate on more than meets the eye is obvious in my opinion,, just follow your heart or something. "But all will pass will end to fast, you know" After the figurative 20 years you will have the feeling like damn.. time passed fast and you have the feeling that you have lost years. The one line that I like most is "you're the truth not I" but I don't know what it means | |

| "Who will wear the hat" = "who will be in control?" To me this song is a criticism of the world around us, full of "designer fakes" and that through your life there'll people who'll you use you ("some hold the rope"). But there's some optimism in that "some hold the rose". It's about figuring out your life basically. "You're the truth not I" to me is directed perhaps at the fans, that the "truth" about our lives doesn't come from Molko, it's something we have to find out for ourselves. | |

| To me this song is not really about the band themselves... It's about Armageddon and how we are going to destroy ourselves. "That’s the end and that’s the start of it, That’s the whole and that the part of it, That’s the high and that’s the heart of it, That’s the long and that’s the short of it, That’s the best and that’s the test of it, That’s the doubt; doubt the trust in it, That’s the sight and that’s the sound of it, That’s the gift, that’s the trick in it." to me is basically saying that when the end finally comes,, that's it, there will be nothing else, no end, no start, no whole, no part, no high no heart, no...etc... the "though some may hold the rose..." bit to me means that even the good people are not exempt from it. Obviously there are personal lyrics in there, but on the whole i think it's not about themselves You're the truth not I | |
