Title: Something to Believe In
Transcribed by: ?
This is Something to Believe In by Poison.
I wish I could take credit for the transcription, but it is not mine.
I just brought it down to a guitar-friendly octave and put it in tab format.
Enjoy, and God bless!

| Sorry for all ye Jesus friends, but I don't think you understand it at all... this song is about a man whose faith in God is challenged by a number of things, things that make him look up to heaven and challenge whoever is there ("If there's a lord above...oh Lord arise"). And then finally realising that there is nobody up there, that all the beautiful words the church uses are empty and devoid of real meaning ("He tells me to believe in Jesus, and steals the money from my hand"). Jesus saves... but as the years pass by, and the neon letters break down, the homeless are still homeless. Hollow words, nothing changed. And no, realising your faith is in vain is not easy ("Sometimes I wish to God I didn't know now the things I didn't know then")... hence the cry, the desperate cry of a man robbed of his foundations in life, for "something to believe in". Brilliant song, I love it. | |

| Everything you ever wanted to know about this song: The whole road crew was like a family by the time they finished touring for the second album "Open Up and Say... Ahh". Kimo, Poison's bodyguard, like all the other members of the crew had gotten heavy into drugs, alcohol, and women. Over the months that their third album, "Flesh & Blood" was being recorded, Kimo's health got consistantly worse. One day in late December of 1990, he died all alone in his Palm Springs hotel room. When Bret got the call on Christmas Eve, he went into hysterics. He locked himself in his room and didn't come out until this song was finished. It tells not only the life story of Kimo, but of Bret's cousin Bob who was wounded in Vietnam. The video for the song is equally as powerful. When Bret saw the image of Kimo on the screen, he lost his compsure and had to leave the set for several hours before coming back to finish his part. The video got 1st place in MTV's "World Series of Video" Peoples Choice Awards. "Long Live Rock" - Bret Michaels, 2001 | |

| It has nothing to do with money, it's very simple. This song tells of the trials and tribulations of fate, whether it's you do everything for your country and you get no respect to eating hand to mouth on the local street, there is always harsher times than what you think you are going through. We need to help or pray for everyone who is in conditions worse than we are, for we would never want to be in those situations. GOD just deals a weird hand for us to play, let's not let him down. After all, he gave us these minds to use, why misuse them to better the gift he gave us. | |
